Tribute to Francis Toussaintby DBoyComment: II looked up this photographer whom I've never heard of and she only comes up as someone who exhibits on Pbase. Every bit of google info I got on her linked back to pbase. I guess she is well known in the pbase community but my understanding of this challenge extended more toward really well-known photographers---someone whose work can be seen outside the non-juried digital community perhaps, i.e, in galleries, books, and museums.
Anyway, I took a minute to browse through her stuff and I guess this kind of emmulates her close-up nature stuff. The difficulty I have is that I didn't find her work all that original or even captivating, just extremely prolific. My suggustion is you check a few collections of works by master photographers.
On its own merit, this is a nice study of texture and line, if not particularly engaging to me. |

Lift your right leg and hold! (Animaltrobics)by ronosmenaComment: Your light meter was fooled by the shadows and hence, the main subject is overexposed. I suggest bracketing exposures to avoid this next time you take photos in contrasty lighting. If you can't do this manually, find your camera's EV setting and set it at a plus setting. You'll lose detail in the background but it what you gain in detail in the main subject will make up for this. If you were shooting a subject against a very light background you would try stopping down your exposure. In this case you would lose shadow detail but gain in the midtones and highlights. |

Blimeyby MazkaComment: I'm sure it is difficult to capture a drably colored bird like this, camauflaged as she is in her environment. You succeeded nicely. |

Wood Duckby BrenbComment: Beautiful bird with a nice background. I like the blue in the distance as it seems to help the red of the duck's eye really pop. Very pretty. |

While on a hike.....by espy2Comment: Would have been better if he had turned to look at the camera but maybe there wasn't an opportunity. |

Homelessby LoulouNoireComment: Nice tonal range in the b&w and the bit of grain gives this a gritty, urban edge which your title reinforces. I really like it. |
