I get the 'diffuse glow' feeling with this picture. Not sure if you used this filter, but it 'feels' like it. I think this pic has some appaeling features and some that are less appaeling (what else is new?). I like how the buildings stand out from their surroundings. I also like the contrast in the pitcure, though I think you've gone a bit too far on the bright side. The sky and some of the brighter parts in the picture are burnt or close to that. The arced roof is hard to distinguish from the sky.

I think this pic might benefit from a little more depth, either an element somewhat closer to the photographer or more detail in the sky (clouds, if available)

I like the overall portrait and the expression, but to me it's a little too light. If you look carefully on a callibrated monitor, you will note that the background is not black. I even wouldn't mind if the dark side of the guy smoothly blended in with the background (although that's a matter of taste). And I am afraid it is not sharp enough for a portrait.

Cool! Like the lighting, like how the smoke turns out. Seems a bit noisy, but doesn't bother me too much. Would have liked to see a slightly deeper dof though.

You might have had winter sunsets in your childhood, but this picture does not express childhood to me. Furthermore, you might want to wait a little longer next time, sunsets are so much prettier after they occurred.
