I Spy...Popcornby Janae_CooperComment: Great idea ... but you got hammered by the speed voters. My daughters all loved the I Spy books when they were little. One thing about those books is that the set ups are pretty involved, and there's a lot to look at in the pictures other than the things you are trying to "spy." It looks like you spent some time finding things for your set up, but your shot ended up looking more like a quick snapshot of your kitchen junk drawer (c'mon, admit it, you know we all have them!) with some popcorn thrown in. A more careful set up with some attention to composition and storytelling (as in the I Spy books) would have scored much better. Even still, the colors and selection of junk are nice and the idea is fantastic. I think this should have scored much better than it did, and it got more 1s, 2s and 3s than it should have. |

Grants woods truck 2by QuigleyComment: I like the lighting on the other shot much better, but this is a great one to compare and contrast the different feelings we get from different light. This shot looks kind of flat and the colors and textures not as rich, particularly on the leaves. The previous shot from the opposite side has a lot more color and detail, particularly in the leaves. Nice subject to explore. |

Grants woods truckby QuigleyComment: What a great find on your walkabout. Love the contrasting colors, as well as the rust that matches the leaves. This would be a great place to go back to for something old this week. |

lighthouse.jpgby LuguerComment: I like how the early morning light leaves that strong red line on the side of the lighthouse. Saturation is a bit overdone on the foreground water, but I like the effect everywhere else. |

staring.jpgby LuguerComment: Nice lighting and great texture on the beach. Looks like he's spied something to eat ... or chase ... off in the distance. A good one for the beagle book. |

hatchetby krnodilComment: Very interesting and edgy processing. I really have to teach myself how to play with textures. But all the processing in the world won't help unless you start with an interesting image, and you did that here. Nicely done, and thanks for finding the energy to join us on the walkabout! Hope your feeling better by now. |

Walkabout4.jpgby LouisaComment: Another nice b+w, and you've done a nice job on the processing to bring out the rich black tones. Good ground up perspective, as others have said, and nice how you kept each of the four stalks isolated against the sky. Nice group of photos you came up with. Thanks for joining us on the walkabout! |
