Feels over-exposed to me - though I can understand the wish to achieve a pale winter feeling, I think you've taken things a touch far - especially the line of her nose and her left cheek. The top of jacket interrupting the line of her jaw is a shame too - for a best photo of the month.

I think there are a couple of immediate problems with this shot: but first off, I should say that detail, processing and tonality are pretty good. I have an issue with the very direct-seeming flash lighting - it flattens the whole image of the man, leaving very little sense of texture or of form in three dimensions. Secondly, the composition lacks some grace I think: what appears important to me is his expression and his hands - both of which are contained in one small area of the image to the mid-left - and the rest serves little to emphasise anything not contained there. The historical dress is plain from the sleeves of his shirt, and what you have included of background makes little addition to the image.

The foreground-left tree - really upsets this image to my eye. Whether a different framing was possible or not, those branches really intrude into your primary subject here. I get a strong feeling that I'd have tried simply to move about five yards to the right, and used all that hay as a foreground ...

I think you could happily use a little more contrast; whilst there's good range throughout the image, the facial details all seem to fall into the same fairly narrow band of grey. I think that makes the image look slightly washed-out, in the end; and it doesn't sem to me to be that important to see much in the magazine, and the background is already pretty bright, so what is there to lose?

It'll be a struggle for the little dear, now, won't it? Nice moment, though there's a strong sense of lack of resolution to this image - the fine detail just isn't there.

Good exposure. Could perhaps use a touch more thought around the composition - almost parallel, almost diagonal, and the single tree at bottom of image seems ignored.

Strange artefacts, either from smoothing or processing generally - make the image seem odd to my eye. Not the happiest composition - too many bits of other animals emerging from behind the ones we can see.

Good detail and colour, and I quite like the composition; I wonder if you mightn't have got even closer, and completely filled the frame with the bird - it seems a little half and half.

The red key-line is discomforting - seems only to emphasise the more pale colours in your composition. I think a touch more contrast would help - it seems to have a narrow dynamic range.

Excellent framing, and I like the implicit softness of it. Effective for what it is.
