magnum opusby whiteroomComment: Now, i really like this - a really striking visual sense of the graphic. The colouration doesn't do a lot for me personally - I think that parallel of spae would have a greater impact if left alone, as it were: it's quite weird, surrealistic, gothic enough, surely, without resort to these colours? It's a wonderful composition too. As much for the sake of I think everyone else is going to vote this down horribly, I'm giving you a high score, but i really would rather not have the colour ;-) |

Midnight Mist by RulerZigzagComment: Delighted for you Tony - isn't that first ribbon feeling great? As henry said, that number of 1's is quite unbelievable, and not understandable. |

Steel Ghostby MickComment: Ouch. To get that far into the 7's and not ribbon is really painful. Great control of the light here, and whatever processing you've done has been achieved with real care. |

Toll Bridgeby patman49Comment: The scene overall is pretty well shot - good exposure, sharpness, sense of shape on the buildings, sense of light. The downside, and I fear it will really hurt your score, is that the bridge itself lacks definition almost completely. |

Suspensionby Pug-HComment: Almost, but your composition is weak I fear: bridges are almost by definition the perect leading lines, and you have to have a real strong sense of the graphic if you aren't tp put at least one end of a bridge in a strong part of frame. |

The Age Of Steamby om10Comment: Apart, perhaps, from the bloody electricity pylon in the background - oh for spot editing, huh? Decent exposure, but lacking in the pin-sharp quality that would give it real presence and impact for such a documentary photograph. Pretty well done though. |

In Between the Bridgeby StagoleeComment: Validated? I guess it does have the impression of selective editing in the brightness of the water, though. Strong image, a little let down compositionally for me: I can't help thinking it would be enormously stronger for a crop at the bottom of frame: i think you're relying on a near-double symmetry, but that only serves to weaken the overall impact of that parkland and the flag, and undermine the strength of the sweep of those twin bridges. Won;t be surprised to see it do well, however. |

night passageby Tom_RobbrechtComment: Pretty good detail in a tricky situation. The composition lacks some strength I'm afriad - trickier subjects than they immediately seem, are bridges. |

Bridging the Culture Gap at the Chinese New Years Paradeby JPRComment: Good stuff, and a clever selection, I would think. Your primary subject is distinct, although the shot meets few of the 'rules'. The downside, a little for me, though i think more perhaps for the site in general, is that it relies on your title so much - but I appreciate the difficulty of going outside the immediately obvious in these challenges. Nicely done. |

Archesby sibelingComment: Good solid shot, although perhaps just a bit uninspired in your sense of composition (I'm not by any means suggesting that that was an easy thing, just that this seems a little - robust, shall i say?). I also wonder if you couldn't have made more of the light on the bridge itself - there is some good interest there for me, but I feel that there might have been more. |
