Somehow, that rather heavy vignetting makes this seem as if it muxt be venetian blinds - it's rare sunlight surely that focusses itself so carefully? it's effective, graphically, however. I get a sense of missing detail, there isn't that sensation of real close here- processing perhaps?

Nicely lit, and carefully photographed. Lines, for sure, but it lacks a certain inspiration, perhaps. I find the border a bit blocky, too - that black key-line especially.

Solidly done image - I suspect, exactly what you were after, pretty much. It doesn't do much for me, however: the soft focus/hyper-smooth treatment implies a glamour and indulgence that doesn't sit well with kids looking quite so sure of themselves.

I'm not at all sure I like the de-sat here - and the ropes seem over-sharpened and exposed. i like the arbitrariness of the background in respect of the subject.

Lots of good things here - though the mixture of lines in the pylons (probably just your POV) creates an odd near-focus effect that bugs me. Love the light, the strong sense of season, and would perhaps have preferred a moe orthodox composition - rather than sticking those verticals so far out of frame. It still works, overall.

Lines In A Puddle

This is the second image i've seen which could have come from the camera of JJ - though I'll guess that this one [i]isn't[i] his. It's intense, defined, rather beautiful; although for me it has moved too far into the world of the abstract. Marvellous stuff.

horizontal lines

Excellent strong work: wonderfully proportioned, the lines placed perfectly. Just the least necessary information required to make the fact of the architecture clear, and a splendid use of negative space. I think I would personally have had it in black and white, to emphasise the graphic nature of it as much as anything, but the tonality of sky and sea make your choice completely understandable. The slight reflections at top of the glass add a subtle, easily missed element of reinforcement. This is really strong photography.

There are a few of this type, it seems. I like the level of detail, the fractal nature of the subject well shown; your compositional approach to those major lines could have been stronger I think, could have made those shapes sit more happily in frame - perhaps a stronger diagonal for the biggest line, or perhaps less central?
