Stairs to Nowhereby TiberiusComment: Noticeably powerful in Thumbnail, this hasn't quite the same impact in this size: I think there are too amny other elements that mask the strong graphic of the stairs. I would guess that a more strongly defined sense of texture would bring out a heap more interest in this shot too - the sense of broken down concrete, and the dust and detritus, seem muted here. The composition is quite strong, though maybe just a bit obvious? I wonder if something more daring might have added effect? |

Breeze by PhilosComment: Oh I wonder whose shot this is? It brings to mind questions of style, content, experimentation, At what point does such a fixed-seeming approach become rather humdrum? I admire your single-mindedness, and at the same time I wonder at the lack of variety of approach - have you truly found your perfect approach to your vision? I don't know ...
Of course, it goes without saying all the necessary compliments on the technical prowess. And I'm sure you'll win this challenge.
And just in case it isn't Manny - well, it's the most profound imitation one could imagine. |

Snuggle Bearby SonifoComment: The technical qualities of this shot are beyond criticism - the taking and processing of this is as perfect as one could hope for. The actual shot - the subjects, the approach, the processes, I find too twee: I haven't this much of a sweet tooth, I'm afraid. I've no idea how to balance the technical against the emotional in my vote though. |

Timber & Bricksby robsmithComment: Very very interesting approach - arresting, in fact, as it has stopped me from expiring with boredom after the last twenty or so images. Excellent compositionally, good spread of tonality, and yet still easy on the eye. I would wish for a more intense level of detail, to bring this neo-modernist kind of composition more comfortably into a real world - it might add some depth to the overall view of this, rather than what I'm finding quite a simple image. Simple but good, that is. I'm intrigued to see whose this is. |

Post Crisisby patty_oziComment: Obviously, to maintain any detail in that frontage, you had to over-expose the sky; nevertheless, that over-exposure is not helping this image for me - I would rather in fact that the entire sky was blown out. That said, there is good sense of texture and detail and tone in the building. Difficult, without knowing your equipment, expertise, or intent, to recommend the best approach to fix this. |

Iceplantby saloonstudiosComment: Very grey - and I can't really see a reason for not using that range of whites above your brightest point. From the look of the shadows on the church front, there ought to be detail in those trees available, rather than a simple silhouette. If it was mood you were after, I would suggest that a greater range of contrast to bring out the clouds, and perhaps enhance some sense of texture on the boarding might have been more effective. This seems, especially as it all darker than the background on which it's displayed, simply to be underexposed. |

Blue Escapeby neophyteComment: Seems to lack detail and resolution - which has killed a sense of texture in those bricks. |

All That Remainsby RolandBComment: Whilst I like this as a composition, it does lack a certain quality of texture. The light through that window is attractive, and lends an element of difference essential in such an obvious challenge. Good work. |
