Wishful Thinkingby LindaEComment: This image almost did not work for me at all until I noticed that you included the saliva colored sludgey ice at the bottom. Well done. Perhaps you could even give us more of that gunk at the bottom. Even the chair's colors are muted and dull. |

Decades of despairby fotofrogComment: Nice shot. The clouds add interest to an appropriately dull sky, and I like the bold lines of the chimneys. |

Waiting for Monsoon...by snowleopard10101Comment: Putting the lion high in the photo helps with your drought theme expressed in the title, putting him higher might have even been more helpful in this regard so we could really focus on the dry ground. |

"This Made Me Cry...."by sfarrell23Comment: Deceptive photo (delightfully). Just looks like some cliche shot of a tombstone until you see the objects placed around it. I wish they were more in focus or that they somehow had more attention. Nice observation. |

Cycle of Lifeby ohrasmonComment: Despair for the mammal, triumph for the eagle. Since the eagle clearly has focus here, the shot doesn't speak despair to me, but would be great for a hunter-themed challenge. If you had the ability, you might've tried shifting so that the mammal was more central. I love the fence: good eye! |

helpby imagesloyolaComment: Gritty, gutsy, meaningful photo that haunts me (as it should). In this photo, you might try fiddling with contrasts as well to get darker darks. The composition is good, too with the victim at lower left. A very nice candid! |

Despair on a Surfboardby biohazardixComment: You caught some great colors here! The composition is fantastic, too. The placement of the surfer in the upper left third is perfect and makes us focus on the problem: the waves and ocean. rather than despair, it looks fun! But maybe that's because I was once a surfer (when I lived in So. Calif.)! |

Snow Collapsed Roofby blickComment: A very journalistic shot, in my view. Very busy, but the focus is clearly on the roof. the white at left adds some neutral space, which relieves the eye. For me, it says "snow collapsed roof" more than it does "despair." |

Runs fine, Only has 300,00 miles.by WILDBLUEComment: Good stuff. rhythms and patterns are very nice. Very subdued grays here. Have you tried adding more contrast to give lighter lights and darker darks? I'm not sure if that would improve the image, but may well be worth trying. |

Georgeby KarenBComment: I like the high contrast and grainy journalistic feel to this; it seems very appropriate. George looks like he's acting. I suspect that this is a friend dressed for the occasion? The composition is also nice with the fence at down right. |
