I like your still life set-up here. There is a nice balance to the composition, and a variety of colors and textures that are quite inviting. I enjoy the soft look to things, too. You do have some harsh highlights and shadows though, that if eliminated would enhance the old world softness I see elsewhere. You can perhaps use more diffused light, or even go outside on a bright day and take the shot in solid shade: you'll get bright light, soft shadows and be much more able to manipulate things. Anyway, nice work and good luck!

Very intriguing macro of this food! The close-up view really brings out the textures and colors of this food nicely. There is a general glare to things, though, that might be avoided with more diffused light--outside in the solid shade, for instance, would give you nice natural colors with little glare. Anyway, just some thing to experiment with. Have fun!

Oh man, I love this stuff! I like the formal arrangement for something that is not really all that formal--nice idea for contrast to get our attention. Was this taken with a flash? If so, you might want to experiment with natural light. Nothing is moving, so you could even do a long exposure. Better yet, set this up outside on a sunny day--but in solid shade, and you'll get brightness, natural colors, and a generally more sophisticated look to things. Note the bright spots on the spoon, plate, and other items and also note the harsh shadows behind things. This is what a flash does. So have fun and experiment! Then send me some of that dip!

Yep. I'll need these after all of the food I'll be making--and eating--after this challenge is over! Nice point of view, and I like the informal arrangement of the pills. I would recommend getting even closer, since the lines, shapes and colors around the pills aren't really doing much in terms of helping the photo communicate anything. You may want to experiment more with point of view, too. If this is 'antacid aftermath'--a lovely title, by the way!--how can you best communicate this feeling or mood? Will special lighting or a special background help? Just things to think about. I think this is a solid photo with lots of things going for it. Good luck!

You don't know how many times I've given popcorn to my kids for 'dinner!' Nice idea. The popcorn in front of the bowl adds a nice informality that popcorn usually has. I would recommend you just sharpen things up a bit with focus, and then with post processing. You might also want to experiment with adding more contrast to get your whites just a little bit whiter and your darks just a little bit darker for a cleaner, clearer image. Nice work.

My mistake, I asked my physicist father-in-law how many volts this was and he said, 'One inch? That's about 60,000 volts.' So my title is correct; the description is not. I corrected the title without correcting the description. Thanks for your votes; I'm surprised it did so well. There were many shots in this challenge I thought would whollup this one. Including YOURS probably!

This was a good shot in this challenge. Nice colors and composition is right on. You might want to think about brightening up the whites in the shot, giving it a cleaner, crisper look. I like!
