I like your still life set-up here. There is a nice balance to the composition, and a variety of colors and textures that are quite inviting. I enjoy the soft look to things, too. You do have some harsh highlights and shadows though, that if eliminated would enhance the old world softness I see elsewhere. You can perhaps use more diffused light, or even go outside on a bright day and take the shot in solid shade: you'll get bright light, soft shadows and be much more able to manipulate things. Anyway, nice work and good luck!

The idea is very good, but the lighting could have been better. The cheese (or I think that's what it is) is too washed out looking, the garlic is hardly discernable as such, and the mushrooms look unclear.

Very nice presentation. Lighting is a little harsh in the lower right corner and those images there are somewhat out of focus. Good effort and meets the challenge.

Whens dinner? And where's the BEEF? :) Couldn't resist.

This is an appealing shot, the food looks inviting and ready to go, but the lighting is a bit harsh on the right and the overall shot is off, a bit tilted to the right. More balance, less light and this would have been a 8 or 9 in my book. Going with a 7 though.

Lighting is a little too strong on the right... use another light on the left to dim the shadows a little. Also, you should have shot this from a lower angle I think. And the pic is tilted to the right (or at least the book is).

I like the arrangement of the items quite a bit... the lighting seems a bit harsh, though. I might have tried it without the cookbook, bringing the ingredients closer and into sharper focus.

Only an 8. I'm uncomfortable with the 'lean' of the wall and book. Also.. was supposed to be a prepared dish. Better focus would have helped.

The lighting looks a little harsh and most of the image is out of focus. The ingredients are placed well, especially the pasta.

Mmm psketti.. ;) I like how the ingredients have been put out. Everything looks appetizing, the focus is good and for the most part the lighting is good. I do find the cheese? in the bottom right corner to be distracting due to the light source. 6
