Challenge: Obviously meets the challenge perfectly. It's a shot that does evoke a desperate situation, and it is so sad how we can ignore the needs of another human being.
Technique: I think the technique here is great. I think it would have been even more compelling if you would have crouched down, to get the perspective of the person looking up at the crowd. The image is also very small, making it hard to see the details. The black and white works great.
Overall: A great image that definitely meets the challenge and opens our eyes. Very well done. |

Challenge: I'm not quite sure how this fit into the despair challenge? I would love to know your reasoning, in case I am missing something.
Technique: Usually not a good idea to just photograph a page in a book, but I appreciate you explaining it. Alot of the challenge is based on your own creativity, and you may have to worry about copyrights, etc as well. It is also off centered and a bit blurry, probably because it is from a book.'
Overall: Not sure it fits the challenge, and I would definitely stick with your OWN work from here on out. |

Challenge: I think this met the challenge great from your perspective. Unfortuneately, there are alot of people who did not fully understand what the objects were, so they were a little confused. Maybe including a little more of the cross would have helped.
Technique: The colors here are gorgeous and I personally like the cropping with the white space. It's a creative approach, and obviously well-thought out. There may be just a little TOO much white space to the right.
Overall: A sensitive subject that was sure to get mixed reviews. It also has alot to do with the way people view the death of Christ - some would feel despair, some gratitude, some indifference. Being a Christian myself, I appreciate you going out there and trying this. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This is a gorgeous shot and one you should be proud of for your first shot. For the future, it helps to know that the "challenge subject" is taken pretty seriously here, which is why you didn't score higher (he looks to sweet it be in despair). I hope you will continue with the challenges though - you have a wonderful eye, and the image is beautiful. |

Challenge: Definitely meets the challenge. I think it would have been a little more compelling with a tear or maybe more jagged writing. Your writing looks so beautiful and "happy", not desperate. (that's a backwards compliment)
Technique: I love the angle and the cropping. The corner at the top is cropped, but the bottom is not, so it is a bit too off-centered. The black and white finish is great. This is a little blurry, which probably happened during resizing. You might want to sharpen your image before submitting next time.
Overall: A creative and good approach to this challenge. I'm sure many of us can relate to the despair of losing trust in a loved one. Thanks for sharing this wonderful image with all of us! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Challenge: Definitely meets the challenge. The dog looks like he really does want out!
Technique: I love the tonal finish and the shadows in this shot. You might want to set your focus on the dog next time, as the sharp focus on the fence is a little distracting. (the bright light brings the eye to it, instead of to the dog)
Overall: A really great shot! I am very impressed and intrigued with the shadows and lighting. I think your focus is the only thing here that needs improving. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

LIGHTING: Great use of the natural lighting - obviously, it would be great if the sky were bluer that day, but it's not really something you can do on your own! LOL!
CHALLENGE: At first, I didn't see a lot of rhythm, but the more I look at it, the more I see it and the more I like it. Anyone who didn't look closely may have scored this lower than it deserved.
SUBJECT: Again, interesting and very fun to "stare into". It does have a cluttered feel, but then alot of things do, and are still just as interesting to look at. The lamp post is a bit distracting to me, as is the fence.
OVERALL: A great photo that just needs a little cropping and maybe a color change on the sky showing through. Really though, this is a very FUN photo to stare into! Great job. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
