City League Champs: Red 3, Blue 2by colorcarnivalComment: I agree that the world would be a better place if papers focussed as much on good news as they did on bad news. I thought this was a lovely action shot of kids just having fun
One thing I would say though is the league may not keep the scores, but I bet the kids and parents do!!! Message edited by author 2007-11-02 15:47:54. |

Zero to Zero Point Twoby colorcarnivalComment: Michelle
God it can be depressing how you can get 'punished' for trying out new things. Maybe the tape measured scared the chaps lol
As has been said not necessarily a dpc friendly image but I love the fact that you experiment and hope that you were not too fed up with the score |

Road to the Capeby KarenNfldComment: Hey Karen
i had really liked the way you brought out the colours in this shot (both the road and the trees at the side), but for some reason the picture almost looks a little skew whiff, is there an adverse camber on the road? |

day 1 I hate when that happensby fotofanComment: A GREAT shot to open the thread with, first of all an image that makes you smile just looking at it and I like the sharpness of the feet, legs and toilet roll. I also really like the leading diagonal that you have created with the toilet paper
Perhaps the thing I would change would be to have shot it without the chair (or is it a table) in the frame, because it is quite bright and cuts through a rule of thrd point it is a little distracting

by ShannonLeeComment: Shannon...Why you no come play with us in the challenge anymore???
To be honest so long as you keep adding photos like this to your portfolio then I dont care because this is just a top top sports shot
I love the idea of the fish eye, if I was being uber critical I would say the top of the sky looks a little odd but I swear if you shot this at a big college match or professional game it would not look out of place on the pages of Sports Illustrated
You are such a cool and innovative photographer, I totally love your work |

Firefighter by andrea22_alsComment: OK I have to offer my congratulations on this image as not only is it fantastic in itself, but it completely meets the challenge. I could absolutely see this as the front page image on a paper
Outstanding colours and the silhouetted image tells a great story of fatigue after hours of battling a fire. Really hope this ribbons for you - 10
Come back to add this to favourites and to say having looked at all of the images in the challenge again, if I could give this an 11 I would do. I swear if this does not get first place then you will be able to consider yourself robbed
Magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wildfire Refugeesby briantammyComment: Very good image of the impact that natural disasters can have on people's lives. For me it is emotive without being intrusive (cos lets face it people have enough to contend with during these times). If you think 'front page' then I would be honest and say that there are more dramatic images from the challenge that would probably get the nod over this one, but I could absolutely see it being used within a paper to illustrate the story
Good job |

Miners Drill Their Way To The Topby JudiComment: I think this is a great image given the circumstances that you must have taken them in. Unfortunately maybe given the nature of the challenge it could have done with a more 'dramatic' front page title (although hopefully people will vote on shot quality)
I guess there are a couple of minor technical issues with the shot, but given that this was done in a minimal challenge I applaud you |

...of Flowing Streams in Winterby hahn23Comment: I really liked this as a differenet angle on the 'changing seasons' idea. Magnificent scenary and the formation of the first bit of ice means it really hits the spot insofar as the challenge is concerned
Great POV and nice B&W conversion. Bump to 8 |

Beginning to Brake Downby orvaratliComment: Stunning contrast and the midnight blue sky gives the barn a wonderful amount of pop. Maybe (and this is being very picky as there is no way I could take a shot as good as this) I would have taken a couple of steps forward just to reduce the grass/rock/negative space at the bottom of the frame and allowed the viewer to see a little more of the barn. Stunning and bumping to 8 |
