Nice finish in a fs considering that the subject is quite 'ordinary' which I guess is a testament to how strong your technicals were
Love the fact that the leaves on some trees are yellow not red which compliments the lines on the road and is nicely set off by the tarmac |

Hypnotizeby colorcarnivalComment: I really liked this shot. SO much to love about it
The gentle B&W
The composition
The way the girls eyes are staring directly at the camera/viewer and are just the right side of the swing chain
The lighting on her hair and the way it is blowing
The tall plants in the background which almost dwarf the child
5.6 is good for a FS, I get the feeling that if you had had a specific challenge that this shot would have fitted it would have definietly been 6+
Lovely |

unfurlingby rozComment: Blimey Rozter....5 challenges 3 stars and one ribbon!!!!!!!!
I love the graduated peach backdrop on the shot which really sets the flower off nicely
The dof is so cool as well and it is brilliant the way the sharpness in the foreground dissolves slightly and then seems to return on parts of the flower in the background, before returning to bokeh
Cooool trick

I have to say that this is not to my personal tastes BUT I can still appreciate what a fantastic job that you did on it. I have to say that digital art does tend to get hammered in challenges so the fact that it scored 6.1 in a FS is pretty damn amazing |

day 3 A Day at the Parkby fotofanComment: Diane....
ooooo this would have almost been a brilliant entry for the recent S curve challnge (though no doubt people would have told you that you S was not pronounced enough).
Somebody recently said on one of my challenge pics that the eye of an animal was not brought out enough, but that is definitely not an accusation that could be made here and the colour contrast with the muted colours of the herons (?) body is fantastic and draws attention immediately
The bokeh really gives the picture a 3d feel and I like the khaki border which is understated enough not to detract from the shop but gives the picture a nice sense of completeness
Lovely composition and application of the rule of thirds.
As for my 'sour' comment....Boy thats a hard one. Possibly a touch of burning on the beak or a fraction more USM but these really are very very minor points. |

Many many congratulations on breaking that 6 barrier with a fantastic portrait of your step-daughter.
Strangely enough it was my daughters 11th birthday during the challenge and for a present she got her ears pierced. I had been thinking about posting a picture of this using a similar title, but I have to say that I am glad I did not because this would have blown it out of the water
I love the dof and the softness of the colours (great job on creating pastel skin tones whilst keeping the eyes sharp). The centred composition works very well and the border just enhances the image
FEEL THE LOVE!!!!
Great job |
