While there are some lines in the placemat that go diagonally, the main lines in the composition (glass, curtains) are all strongly vertical. Also, all of the light comes from the back, and it looks like the apple is sitting in the dark.

The stairs at the bottom are a little heavy, but otherwise nice. One of my faves for this challenge.

Interesting perspective. Would definitely score higher if the bulb weren't so dirty.

Really nice and rustic. Looks like something out of an old Charlie Chaplin movie.

I saw your post in the Challenge Results forum, about not getting comments on this entry. I think most of the comments go to pictures that stand out in some way, usually either good or bad. This one is neither, it fits somewhere in the middle (I gave you a 5). It's a nice shot of a duck, nicely composed, nice colors, good detail. But...you got it right yourself, the reflection isn't very strong, the rock is sticking out of its head, and it looks like there is some camera shake. I know if I were shooting handheld at 1/60 with the lens zoomed out to 200, I would never get a shot that didn't have some shake in it.

Hope that helps.

Very odd green cast. Is that intentional?
