Day 6 - Shell Jarby rox_roxComment: cool. Makes it look like there's a light inside them and it was taken in a dark room. |

Day-6-Needled-048.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: I do too but I think it would be a little better if there was just a bit more space at the top and right in this shot. |

Day06: Door Handleby citymarsComment: nice focus. You can see the grain in the metal and the dust on the handle. Composition is good too. Good job. |

Daisyby ElaineComment: from the thumb I thought I would see a lady bug on the daisy but after opening it I realized its not a lady bug and then stared trying to figure out what it was. If it isn't intentional then it is distracting but, if that is what you want the viewer to focus on the the color of whatever it is sets it up as a focal point. I like the dewdrops around the center. I think I would want to see more of the petal ends though in this one. |

Four Elements Dished up by SheryllComment: Originally posted by Nullix: Sucks you were DQed. This shot was beter done than mine. By chance, did you also find Inspiration |
Actually my inspiration came when I first saw the challenge because I misunderstood and thought you had to have all four elements. Even after I realized you only needed one of them I still went for this one. I had to drive all over the place to find dry ice and went way the heck out of my way for it. I bought the dishes and the plant, and 151 rum, the pump, lamps for lighting, and the black foam board behind it. Then I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get them suspended because at first everything I tried didn't work because of the weight of the dishes. I ended up putting my sons little table between two CD towers and tying the bottom together to keep the weight of the dishes from pulling the top ends toward eachother when the dishes were on top. There really weren't enough outlets near my set up to get the lighting the way I wanted it so I sort of had to overprocess a bit to fix what didn't work. It sucks that it got dq'd but in the end it wouldn't have gotten that great of a score anyway and even though the person probably requested validation because they though I did something wrong in editing (which I didn't) it was still my fault it was dq'd because my download software changed the original file somehow and so I didn't have the original from the camera. Well lesson learned and a good thing it was now rather than later when I would have had a ribbon right? lol like that's gonna happen anytime soon. Anyay I feel good about the shot overall because I was actually the only one who showed air among the several shots that did the same idea. Everyone else (including yours) just had empty cups or dishes to show air, which works but I feel good knowing I went a step beyond.
Anyway thanks for the compliment. Message edited by author 2007-06-04 11:21:28. |

Don't Mess With Jesus (Luke 12:49)by Jason_CrossComment: There are those who are lazy and will not look up this verse. I did. I could argue that the verse says "I have come to bring fire on the earth , and how I wish it were already kindled!" But here you show it IS already kindled. Which really doesn't interpret the verse correctly in this shot. However I am not voting on that but on the photo itself. I just wanted to point it out that's all. You did get me to open my Bible though.. kudos for that. As far as the photo goes it looks like you "painted" with a candle which is pretty cool. The lighting on the figurine is a little too harsh imo. I don't think your overall score at the end of the challenge is going to reflect the effort and thought it appears you put into this. |

Rain Machineby BugzeyeComment: Wow this would have been great for the four elements challenge if it were taken during that time frame. |

Blissby levyj413Comment: I opened this and stared so long I had to comment to let you know. This is a beautiful shot and one to treasure forever. I'm giving you a 10 but it probably won't stay because I doubt I'll get through 20% but I might. I love the lighting in this, the different textures of Moms earrings, the wall, the blanket, and Mom's shirt. They're all different yet very complimentary. And the expression on Mom is just beautiful. Not to mention such a beautiful lady as well. It's no wonder the baby is so precious. |
