Eggs Buried In The Snowby AmieeComment: Too white.. not enough contrast to make this photo really good. Would have liked to see all of the four eggs. |

Another Eggheadby GeocideComment: Great idea, the egg looks slightly out of focus. The lighting is spot on though. I like the blue tint very much |

Crackedby robbiehComment: Not a fan of the big border, but I love the textures you were able to capture in the picture. |

Not Whipped Yetby jaygComment: Amusing idea and well shot... I like it! Wish it was just a bit brighter to really capture the whiteness of the eggs... |

Broken and neglected, she awaits the seaby mbardeenComment: Thanks for all the great comments and the great voting! I knew this was a good pic, but I was worried about getting the emotion I felt across. Evidently I succeeded! You can see the original photo here and the entire pier here. I would have liked to include a picture of it before it collapsed, but, alas.. Anyway, if you're interested you can see one here.
Oh.. for those wondered what happened: A combination of neglect and weather brought it down around christmas time.. I was able to get this shot due to a really low tide the day I was shooting. There were tons of other people out that day, but luck was on my side and I only got one of them in the shot (you need to brighten up the pic to find them though!) Spring is comingby mbardeenComment: Thanks for all your comments:
PTLParsons: There was a lamppost to the left of the shot and another building (slightly higher) to the right. This was the best crop I could come up with.
techerring: The one thing I really wanted to do was shoot that with the afternoon sun on the building in the background with blue sky. That would have added that extra wow factor and a point or two to the shot, I'm sure. Thanks for the critique though!
Bullwinkle: If the building in the background had been a stronger yellow, I would have cropped the yellow flowers in front a bit more.. |

Young Despairby mattComment: eh.. not sure about this. Did you intend it?
On further reflection - I think I see what you intend here. It would be nicer if the picture of the child was a bit bigger to take away some of the emphasis of the negative space. It also might give the viewer more of an impression of growing up in despair.. Just a thought. |

Strandedby GolferDDSComment: I feel a bit daft because it took me a long time to figure out what this was... However, as an image it's great. Technically good, something the viewer can relate to though I wish for a bit more emotion. I love the contrast and how it highights the curves. Good job.. |
