Airbus A380 - View from Under Left Wingby PhotologistComment: God, it feels kind of intimate :)
Interesting POV, one I've never seen before. Shame about the sky being dull, but you can't really do anything about the weather. Otherwise a very good shot. |

Extreme Fishingby WildcardComment: Wow, this is really cool! It really conveys the magnitude of the sea compared to the fisherman. Hemingway would have approved :) |

Mooseby EmerkazaComment: Wow! I've never seen one of these in real life! Quite a friendly looking creature really. Nice shot, and the direction of the light is good. However, I would have been tempted to play with creating some new shadows and highlights in pp to guide the viewer's eye more - like darken bits of the background, and add some subtle highlights to the moose's face to make it more obviously the main focus of the picture.
There's a tutorial about it here. |

tulips-in-the-hosp-rm-x.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: Wow, I really like this! Totally captures the hospital experience, I love all the details present in the picture (I ended up in hospital for a couple of days last summer, and this totally brought back memories).
I think the pp worked really well, it makes the picture more pleasant by removing it from reality a bit, but at the same time, the capture remains very real. |

oldtree.jpgby sickdogComment: Nice picture. The silhouette of the branches is actually very interesting, and has a lot of detail that the viewer's eye can explore. The positioning of the moon seems a bit mad, so makes the photo kind of cool and unusual.
I'm not too keen on the fluffy cloud bits in the lower right corner, I would've personally just edited those out. |

Light on white Outtakeby mistComment: Aww, what a nice shot! So sad :(
Yes, the extra couple of editing steps improve it dramatically. The colours in the original still look quite vivid, and the background's quite dark, so it would've gotten a bunch of dnmc votes. On the other hand, this one doesn't have that problem, and looks a lot more delicate, which fits the subject matter well. |

no flyingby skewsmeComment: At first glance, the colour makes the picture look kind of non-descript, monotonous and lacking in detail. Which is why it comes as a surprise when at second glance you discover that the picture is actually extremely detailed, and has interesting light and all sorts of things. At third glance it all suddenly clicks into place, and you realise what you're looking at.
Good picture! I'm impressed this was done in minimal editing. I actually prefer this one to the photo you did enter, but I expect it would have scored horribly, as the average voting time per picture probably wouldn't allow people to get past the first glance impression (and at first glance, I would've quickly given it a 4) |

deep_med.jpgby BrookiedComment: Cool picture. I love your B&W stuff, it always manages to look great. In this case, I'm impressed that you took something that would normally be quite a dull subject matter, but managed to use a POV that makes it dynamic and engaging.
The picture draws you in, even making you feel slightly dizzy, and your eyes end up exploring the slanted horizontals and vertical with new-found fascination. Quite a hard shot to get right - I've tried it before, and my diagonal building shots just looked silly, which makes this one all the more impressive. |

Purpleby KivetComment: An extreme hue shift? (must be, right? I'd be amazed if this is for real)
Much as I like the colour, looking at this picture actually hurts my eyes. The shades of purple clash with the colour of the vegetation. Nice perspective in the distance.
Interesting but painful. |

travel-anne_hathaway2.jpgby michael_pComment: Wow, beautiful colours! Very pretty. A possible objection would be that the shot is too busy, but I think it does work well as it is. |
