At first glance, the colour makes the picture look kind of non-descript, monotonous and lacking in detail. Which is why it comes as a surprise when at second glance you discover that the picture is actually extremely detailed, and has interesting light and all sorts of things. At third glance it all suddenly clicks into place, and you realise what you're looking at.

Good picture! I'm impressed this was done in minimal editing. I actually prefer this one to the photo you did enter, but I expect it would have scored horribly, as the average voting time per picture probably wouldn't allow people to get past the first glance impression (and at first glance, I would've quickly given it a 4)
