Really for sale!by marvinComment: Hello from the Critique Club:
Since I couldn̢۪t vote in this challenge, this is the first time I̢۪ve had a chance to look at your image. My first impression was that this was a nice image of a car and that it would probably score around a 5.5. I think that the image meets the challenge well; however, it does have that used car ad feel to it instead of the new car ad the voters were expecting. I̢۪m not sure what time of day this image was taken but shooting when the sun was a little higher might have provided a bit more dramatic lighting. Overall, I think the comments you received covered most of the things about this photo that kept it from scoring in the 6̢۪s.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.

RX-8 - Zoom Zoom Off The Beaten Path!by smardazComment: Hello from the Critique Club:

My first impression was that this was a nice image of a car and that it would probably score around a 5. What really hurt your score IMHO is that the background in this image does not look like a car ad. Add to the less than flattering background, the car needs more space around it to give the impression that you could buy this car and drive off with it if so desired. I like your post processing and I think it would have worked with the appropriate background. Overall, the lack of a car ad feel to this image made it easy for the voter to give it a 5 and move on, as shown by the voting histogram where almost half of your votes are 5.

Dodge Viperby brandongouveiaComment: Hello from the Critique Club:
Since I couldn̢۪t vote in this challenge, this is the first time I̢۪ve had a chance to look at your image. My first impression was that this was a nice image of a toy car and that it would probably score around a 5. You did a nice job with the lighting and you tried to make the image interesting with the shallow depth of focus. As you can see from the comments you received, the shallow depth of focus is a love it or hate it kind of effect. Toys don̢۪t score very well at DPC unless it is for a toy related challenge or the image is exceptionally creative. This is even truer for a challenge where the voters expect to see a real car in an ad type setting. Overall, the subject matter (toy), composition (straight on), and lack of dramatic lighting created an image that is good but not exciting and easy for the voter to give it a 5 and move on.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Broken borderby FocusPointComment: Back to comment: A very creative idea and nicely done. If you could have changed the lighting just a bit to provide some detail in the flower pedals, it would have been exceptional. 7 |

fartellby shenanigansComment: Back to comment: The tension created by having the chair face the outside of the image is wonderful. I would have like to see a bit more white to the snow. Nice job. 8 |
