I think you made the right choice with you entry. The lighting in this and the other outtake is a little flat. All three could use some improvement in sharpness. One thing I've done to improve sharpness especially in the low/flat lighting is to use a tripod. The least little shake from being handheld can ruin the sharpness.

I like the nearly unbroken horizon in this one and I think the colors beat the blown highlights of the sunrise in the other shot.

Something is not quite right for me. It might be that the large border is emphazing the too tight crop. It's like a print thats too large for its frame. It might also be the flat point of view. I think its a great subject but an unflattering perspective.
