I think the lighting is fine. It looks like the pine cone is floating in the air which adds interest along with the shallow DOF. Only thing you could have done differently was make it more of a square crop.

Great idea. Love the colors. I agree that if you focused more towards the middle more would have been in focus. Especially at f32.

I just hate when the wind gets in the way. The brown/white of the flower looks great against the blue background. You have capture cold very nicely. I can feel it.
