Haha, I have a camera just like it, and have tried the same! The zero-inch super macro is aaaawesome in this camera, but the problem is often the light, as the lens starts to block it up close.

Hint for future uses: Put camera lens up, towards (a not too bright sky), set manual focus to zero, and now you can put various items direclt on the lens and get amazing shots this way. One other interesting thing to try with this amazing and versatile camera is the time lapse function. Put it on a tripod, set it to 50 shots, every 5 minutes, and watch the world go by. Microsoft movie maker (free) can make the shots into a time lapsed video clip ...

Thanks, that is what I needed to hear, about unsubmitting, though I think the other way around - unrelated, but not a good picture :-) Freestyle, you mean the monthly? I dare not to enter there before my skills improve, including PhotoShop! (STILL only using Picasa2 ...). Unless I get lucky and think that I have a really, really good shot.

Great photo, just happened to see it from the thread "pick the photo ..." and that right after I did this attempt (but unsubmitted): . Your photo would have done great in that contest, if the rules could be conformed with ...

I did not get inspiration for my (inferior) shot from your shot, but now that I happen to see, I have to comment!

Some day crooks will use pictures like this to steal our identities! (biometric IDs and passports ...)

Thank you for the comments, and after voting myself, I am content of my unsubmitting - even though my "average" so far is 8 :-) (one "vote"), it would not have made much more than 5, if even. I have earlier been surprised in how low images went that I thought were good.

I think my idea holds up, but as mentioned, both objects should be (more) in focus, and picture should have been with much more of a wow-factor. Used my 50mm, but should have used the 10-22 I think, would have made the ice cream so much bigger because of the perspective. And the title could have been "find the link". It was not easy to stage a good scream, as people were watching from all over during the shooting. Raining outside (why no rain LAST WEEK, GEE!), so shot inside, and McD is what she wanted ... (I feel the same way, Nitesead!)

So much for starting to shoot 1 hour before deadline. Note, time here is 12 hours ahead of US Eastern time zone, even 13 when DST ends ... so real, but overcast, daylight.

Great idea! Meets the challege sooo much, especially regarding that the link between the two is definately photographic. Tiles looks like they are real size, but ball like it is a miniature! Bump up to 9.

You should be top 10, maybe even ribbon, good luck and patience ...

Very nice, top ten at least, and you managed to stick to two objects. Photographic link is the shape of the two objects, I presume?

Details: Gather exactly two objects that are completely unrelated (for example, a carrot and a yo-yo) and make some sort of sense out of their combination, photographically speaking.

What is that fruit called now?

Overblown, don't like the composition, but good idea and meets challenge.

Good idea but too many objects, too disturbing and messy for me. Find a neutral background or use low aperture for shallow DOF, as well as tighter crop.

Too many objects, not really a nice composition but a good idea. Leave out micro and sauces, as long as text is visible on the carton, the statement is clear enough. And how about some better light than a flash that is blowing it out?
