For me it means being at the right place, at the right time, and being lucky enough to capture something unique. Some of these entries are set up shots trying to illustrate that concept, and some record a serendipitous moment experienced by the photographer themselves. This is obviously an example of the former. Nicely photographed and composed, and a cute take on the concept. Something less obvious on the message would have been better I think. Maybe a hand-written phone number with the words "call me", or some other more mysterious message would have been more better. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I think the a flash, or bright lighting, and the resulting contrast is distracting. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This is (hopefully) a set-up shot, but it doesn't represent serendipity, which should be a pleasant surprise. A blood-spattered young man may be a surprise, but not a serendipitous one. |

This is a lovely sunset shot, but not unique enough to qualify for serendipity. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

If this is a set up shot, then you have way too much time on your hands. I think this is an excellent expample of being in the right place at the right time to get a great shot out of it. Great image that's a great example of serendipity. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I like the colors, and a black squirrel is unusual. But I'm not sure it really represents serendipity. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Not sure which this is, but it certainlly has the feeling of being a candid moment. Which makes it all the more successful if it's a set up. A nice composition, and the darkness of the figures against the background is striking. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This image, although nicely composed, doesn't seem to illustrate serendipity to me. |

An actual four-leaf clover would make a wonderful subject matter for serendipity, but this image is too dark and fuzzy to successfully portray it. |

Birds aren't known for sitting still for portraits, so you know this image was a lucky shot. And the color sheme and composition are very pleasing. |
