Me and my Welliesby rileyComment: ::: Greetings from Critique Club :::
Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Very cute! and well, it fit the challenge well.
Composition:
One of my pets is composition and is where I make a lot of negative remarks. Here, you have the subject almost centered in the frame. A stronger and ulimately more effective compostion is toe move the subject off center. Move the legs here to the right of the fram with the toes pointed towards center. You end up with a burst of color in a stronger postion in your frame and enhances it against the field of white. Research and practice the Rule of Thirds.
Subject:
Subject is clear and stands out well against the snow.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour is good and was essential for this challenge.
Focus seems pretty sharp... although I'd like to see a bit more sharpening in post-process
Light: considering you are shooting color against a see of white, you got the exposure pretty darn good. A tad bit of fill flash would have made it pop just a bit more though.
To grow its vote?:
Composition is king... a slight movement to the side of the frame can make all the difference. Definitely get to know the rule of thirds.
Summary:
Technically well executed and fit the challenge well. A bit more attention to composition could have made this a contender for a ribbon.
Hope to see more from you soon,
Leroy |

Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Certainly is a nice burst of color. Nice detail.
Composition:
Lacks a little punch. Perhaps the blue area shoudn't be at the center of the photo, but off center (Rule of Thirds).
Subject:
Subject is clear and nicely presented.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour: Nice color, and this was essential for this challenge.
Focus: Seems a bit soft to me, but this may be more of a post-process thing than an in-camera issue.
To grow its vote?:
Composition.. push the Rule of Thirds HARD... voters at DPC love the Thirds compositions.
Summary:
Overall, nice presentation. You were on the right track here and it fit the Challenge well.
Hope to see more from you soon,

Cast your light upon the watersby VanGoghComment: ::: Greetings from Critique Club :::
Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting light pal, but overall lack of composition loses me quickly.
Composition:
My eye is left to wander everywhere. Not a very strong compsotion in my opinion.
Subject:
Not clear, because of the lack of composition.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour : very nice color and well exposed.
Focus: Looks pretty sharp.
Light: Well exposed and does add to the color.
To grow its vote?:
Composition oges a long way in the process of making a photo. Study Rule of Thirds ... and crop to make your compsotion stronger.
Summary:
Since you have left no Photographer's comments, I am left on my own to determine what you were trying to get here. I assume you were going for an abstract play on color. Technicals are good, but composition hurt you.
Hope to see more from you soon,
Leroy |

Eye Contact by jjbeguinComment: Quite frankly, one of my favorite captures in this challenge. You've successfully isolated one face in a fairly large crowd. That's not an easy task. Good work. 10! |

You Think You Know Me.by MPRPROComment: Ahhh... the nude workshop :-) those are always fun. I'm giving you an 8...
I'd like to see a few things changed. First, I'd prefer the model be in sharp focus and the photographers be further on the edges of the DoF. I believe this would have a better effect of singling her out.
Crop could have been a little tighter on the right and bottom also. There are some distractions in these areas. |

Serenade on the riversideby srugoloComment: Beautiful post processing here... I think you've done a good job of singling out the fearless musician with both an interesting composition and creative post-processing. Initially voted it a 9... coming back for a bump to 10. |

Gorgeous George?by GeneralEComment: I never want to pass the DNMC judgement on any photo, but this challenge was specifically supposed to be candids. |

Judgingby angela_packardComment: Wow, beautiful capture... love the ambience in lighting and that your subject is truly singled out by the fact that he is silouetted |
