THE eggby enasniogComment: Good use of the rule of thirds. There are a number of negatives that, unfortunately, work against it. The general technical quality of the image is poor, focus is overly soft for its content. t appears the focus is actally on the background and not the egg. There is some haloing and jaggies on the lower half of the egg. |

Cheescake ....Yeah!by AWorthComment: Nothing overexposed, has good detail in the focused area and the shallow DOF is good. Looks like there may be a tiny hair at the top of the cheesecake that should have been removed. Some viewers will be confused about the shot takn from floor level and that the background, which takes up pleanty of real estate, seems unrelated to the cake. |

Last nights dinner .... untainted and ready to eat!by kari1Comment: Good idea, especially the usage of a black background and the wine. The background would be best if it were uniformly black everywhere but grey shows up on the far left. Additional lighting to make the wine glass stand out more would be a good addition. The image seems a bit on the soft focused side when increasingly hungry reviewers want to see |

Messynoodlesby MazkaComment: Composition and arrangement are fine. It is on the small size and voters typical give small images lower scores. They figure it is smaller to hide technical flaws. The dark meat might have been better contrasted with light colored chopsticks. The image is soft focused in a way that many reviewers with judge it a technical flaw. |

Radicchio - Recipe for a Better Saladby ltaylorComment: An interesting abstract composition with good use of red. It has an appearance of having had slightly excessive noise reduction applied to the center. If intentional be prepared to have some voters think it is a technical flaw. The brownish things in the top corners and the white line in the lower right corner are minor distractions. I'd be curious to see other angles and different perspectives on the Radicchio. |

Sweet and Sour Chicken Stir Fryby kteachComment: Nice arrangement, composition and lighting. The exposure is very good and the colors stand out. The background color is good with this arrangement and the black border works. |

Creamy Homemade Peanutbutter Fudgeby neenee1999Comment: Well exposed and good color. You get a sugar high just looking at it. :) The dark background highlights the fudge well. It might be better still if made solid black to highlight the browns even more and hide image noise. Some viewers will be distracted wondering what that fuzzy object at the far center left is. The soft focused foreground seems distracting but that might reflect this reviewers personal bias. Message edited by author 2006-02-08 07:48:45. |

Doughnuts - too yummy to wait!by naomikComment: Nice colors and good use of DOF. The bite and arrangement make composition very appealing. Some reviewers might find the image noise to be a distracting technical flaw. |

Sprinklesby missinseattleComment: Macros like this convey, to good effect, the illusion that the cupcakes go on forever. The whites are nicely bright without any grossly overexposed areas. The bead topping adds much needed color. The shallow DOF of this image would be even more effective if a cupcake with more beads was placed in the absolute center of the frame and in sharpest focus. |

Enjoy the meal!by Boris the bladeComment: Looking directly down on the food is a good perspective. Perhaps caused by the flash, but there appears to be vignetting on the corners of the image. The object in the upper left corner is a distraction and should be eliminated. The tray should be made level, being slightly crooked distracts the viewer. Unfortunately the tray reflects light from the flash and the spoon casts a sharp shadow. A bright, but diffused light source would work well with this composition. |
