Looks to me like the guy is taking a leak. ;) Good image post processing. Highlighting adds viewer interest to the composition. Decent sharpness with just a touch of haloing along the horizonline. If you used a longer exposure to give the water a smooth water effect it worked well. Adds a bit of surrealism to the image. Like this image a lot.
Like in this image... many people pictured me near bodies of water. I measured most of the water I saw by the thimblefull. :) - Steve

Creative and appropriately for the challenge. You did a very good job ncliding the image in the sock. Good clothesline perspective and soft focused background works well. The sepia image in the sock fits perfectly. Nice bokeh.
Though I was able to wash my socks while missing they were REALLY rank and not nearly as nice looking as the ones you captured here. The last place I would want to be is inside them. :) Makes a great picture, though. - Steve

Like this image. The soft background frames the hand and crystal ball nicely. Very creative. Reminds me of an M.C. Escher self portrait.
This image is particularly meaningful to me. It metaphorically represents family and friends reaching out to help protect me while I was lost. I like butterfy photography a lot to. - Steve

This image gets the nod as the most accurate representation of how things actually were. Good job getting the face in there. Nice side light angle on the cactus. If you have Photoshop there is a feature that you can apply to try and give the face a simiar lighting angle that might be fun to try out with this image some time. The prickly pear fruit is not quite ripe in this depiction but getting there. :)
Birds were my main competition for the prickly pear fruit. I did spend most midday timeframes hiding from the sun. Mostly I used palo verde trees for shade. Did not sleep during the day (Or sleep much at night either for that matter). I had a long sleaved shirt that prevented me getting sunburned; the shirt even had a collar to protect neck and ears. I did, however, get to close to spiny cacti and got spines stuck in my rear end on a number of occasions. Believe me, it is a chore getting them out, but would have made a hilarious video. LOL! - Steve

The DPC Search

Nice nighttime look to the image with good use of the rule of thirds. Does a good job conveying the sense of a long, far and wide search for the lost photographer. It was. :)
The only thing wrong with it is that stdavidson is considerably better looking than that, of course. LOL!!! To my knowledge flyers about my disappearance were distributed all over central and southern Arizona, along the Oregon coast and at the big Harley-Davidson motorcycle gathering in Sturgis, South Dakota and probably other places I am unaware of. DPC played a central role in the search to.

Good sunset. Good color and not overly processed which is an ofte made common mistake. Good cloud defintion and trees make nice silhouette. Reflection in the water adds viewer interest. Bet it is great to have such a nice view from your home.
While I was 'missing' there was spectacular sunset lighting off towering evening monsoon thinderstorms and so much lightning at times it was scary. Surises were beautif,l as well. Unfortunately, my camera had been stolem by then and I did not get a single picture of any of it. This is the first decent monsoon season we've had in three years, too. :( - Steve

Hmmmm... strange... Looks like a native amercan shaman or one of those wierd characters from the 'Mad Max' movies.
You know, I think I did see this guy flying while I was lost in the desert. After running and hiding it took me an additional three days to find my way back out.
I did spend a lot of time looking up into the sky. About all I saw were vultures circling around overhead. I have to constantly keep reminding them that as long as I was still moving that they had to keep their talons off me! - Steve

Compositionally well done. Brown tones match dried Sonoran desert plants well. Good placement of main 'spiny' plant. Overall good framing and the soft background highlights the thorniness of the plants and provides good subject separation.
While lost, one of my biggest problems occured when sitting down and getting spines like this stuck firmly in my behind. It happened numerous times. What is worse is that desert spines often have a chemical coating that stings when you get poked. That makes it even more fun when stuck in your rear end. Worse yet, many cactus spines are hooked on the ends that makes them more painful to pull out. Often it is almost impossible to pull these things out easily. A desert trick is to take a standard comb when hiking. You push the comb between the cactus spines and your body and 'comb' the spines out. That was one of the few things I had with me when I got lost and I used it many times.
Gee... thanks for bringing back all those fond memories. LOL!! - Steve

Beautifully done. The upper left to lower right color/content diagonal line with bridge and boat makes this an interesting composition giving the viewer much to look at and think about. The color processing is well done, particularly the blue of the bridge and water and the yellow glow at the bow of the boad. There is just a touch of haloing on the horizon but not enough to be a distraction. A couple of the clouds are a bit overexposed but again not bad.
I tell ya, I sure would rather have been kayaking that sweaing in the desert when I was lost! :) Perhaps I will get the chance soon. - Steve

Very inviting greenery and forest. Nice water flow pattern. Looks like the rainforest of the Olympic Peninsula along the Washington coast of the Pacific Northwest of the USA where I've hiked before.
Unfortunately, most of the ladies of DPC will immediately recognize that is not ME in the picture. They all know I have a much nicer behind than that. It is a little embarrassing to have so much female sex appeal, but I just have to live with it. ;) - Steve
