The undefined hinterland between weird and not weird is not to be sniffed at. If you want votes at dpc, then you should probably go for the simplest and most obvious 'message', as it should get home to the most. Those that are less easy to define may be more disquieting. Yer pays yer mmoney and yer takes yer choice?
Congratulations on this one, anyway.

Very Paris-atmospheric, although the diagonal lines of the glass pyramid are more incidental background than "a diagonal axis as the major compositional thrust of your image". Never mind, Henri Cartier-Bresson lives! 8

Kind of a cliché picture, but it nails the challenge. 8

Nice candid - I can't decide if it's sad (lonely), but the possibility adds a dimension. 6

Love the picture, but I'm having trouble seeing the "diagonal axis as the major compositional thrust of your image", or much else, I suppose . . .

I think if there were some sort of stark diagonal composition in this,, it would be a far more interesting picture. As it is, it's text-book rule of thirds. Good picture, by all means, but it doesn't get off the ground in the challenge context imo 5

All grain and slightly diagonal because the camera's tilted 3

I just can't see a diagonal axis as the major compositional thrust, sorry, 2
