Nice capture of the moment, the technical quality however detracts a bit. I think their faces are slightly overexposed, loosing detail. The dark fringe around the photo increases that impression for me.

He's very well lit. Not so sure about the red light in the background - too red (on my monitor) to count as sundown, although the time on the clock would match it.

Generally I don't like this color + BW shots - this one makes an exception as it makes excellent use of it to highlight the main elements of the picture in a way that adds to it without distracting.
