Not sure you captured the "house" part of things however this is a *stunning* photo! You managed to make a fly look visually appealing, I think, with the soft background and the colors. And to make a fly look attractive is no small feat!

As you alluded to in your comments, the lighting is very impressive here. It gives what would be a decent shot a real punch. The tones are nice and I like your choice of black and white - makes this seem like a very serene and solemn image.

I think what throws me is there is such a beautiful curve to the building... almost like a women's torso, and then looking at the bottom is sort of jarring, in comparison. Maybe it would be better, for me, if you had cropped to the point where the diagonal line of the bottom building *just* stops at the edge of the curve. That way you would eliminate both the building in the background as well as the diagonal line that contrasts so much with the curved main subject.

However, even as it is, I think this is a great shot! I wish I could see all of it on my monitor at once - I have a feeling I would like it even more. And really, the stuff about the bottom being in contrast.. it really does not take too much away from this image.

I think this is a good shot and you did well with the levels and saturation. I like the colors, especially the contrast between light and shadows.

I do agree about maybe cropping differently, though. You did a great job with emphasizing the "aloneness" and I think maybe the "together" needs to be emphasized a little more with a bit of a tighter crop. But I think compositionally, the cropping isn't as weird for me as the different lines are... there are two diagonal lines made by the clouds and the sloping line of the ground - I think these three elements don't mesh as well as other shots of this type I have seen.

But regardless, I think the shot is powerful because the two people are present and clear - it gives it an impact that the same shot but without the people would not have.
