I wish the background were a bit sharper (it looks like it should be smaller if it is that blurry.. hope that makes sense) but overall I really love the photo and think it is very beautiful and meaningful.

Looks like your photo got liquified mother-of-pearl spilled on it. Very beautiful. I hope that you will explain some of your editing because I am very curious as to how you got this neat gathering of images. I like that the bottom is very busy.. it gives me a lot to look at - and it does not overwhelm the shot as a whole since it is only at the bottom.

One of my four favorites. A great example of using editing to enhance the image without drawing too much attention to the editing itself. The image is lovely, and all the aspects of it work together to create a wonderful mood/feel. I think this is my second favorite in the challenge overall and that's 'cause I'm a sucker for rainbow colors, hehe. I really love this shot and I hope you do well!

Leaving aside the background, I think there are a couple things here. I would have liked to see all of his head in the frame, and the shadows cast by the right arm and the ear are a bit harsh. Other than that though I really liked this shot (and really I only noticed those things because I was looking for things that might have been "off" as you said). Like bmartuch's comment mentioned, there is a lot of emotion here - that was the first thing I noticed when I came across this image. I also really like the title - long titles have a way of being cheesy sometimes but that is not the case here. The title really brings things home for the viewer as far as connecting the visual to the challenge and also giving the boy some personality (by way of how you phrased the title).

Gosh I sure do love this shot. It's really unique and original and it tells a story - photos that tell a story are wonderful to look at even if they are not "technically perfect". There are technically great shots all over the place that don't necessarly move people's emotions - it's like going to a five-star resturant but having a cold and not being able to taste the food. This photo is like going to a fast food resturant on Valentine's Day with someone you love very much.

Only thing to improve would be if there had not been a harsh line of light (something had been next to the cat to make a shadow or the cat had been closer to whatever else was creating the other shadow).

Anyway I really liked this shot... I wish I had commented during the challenge - I would have said that the motion really works for me, and I love how the red colors in the tongue and background match pretty well (and how the red emphasizes "violent" which is pretty neat)
