I do enjoy eating snails (the fresher the better), so I appreciate the take on this image. That said, the presentation of your model really isn't that pleasing. Poor angle on the shell and the stuff around the opening just looks kind of gross. Maybe waiting a bit for him to come out and show his head would have been worth it.

As far as the challenge goes you gave me a good laugh, but pretty much falls into the DNMC. On the other hand it is one of the better technical images in the challenge with good lighting, colors and dof. I was probably a bit harsh on my first vote so I am going to bump up now.

The color balance and tones just arent good for sushi. My eye craves the bright crisp colors that could be playing out. The brown/orange tones just make the meal look unappetizing.

A staple in my house. Probably eat them almost weekly. So I am connecting well with your subject from a foodie perspective. From a photography perspective it is a bit lacking. Snapshot feel to it, cropped way too tight. I think you could have been a bit more creative with the image. Would gladly take an invite to come over and dine with you though.

Good looking plate of food, but the arrangement of the items seems a bit odd, especially with the white background as it is. The negative space doesnt help the image, just makes it feel lopsided. I think if you had taken at a lower angle and allowed the other props be the bokehed background to the plate you would have had a much stronger image.

Lovely clean image with a pleasantly simple presentation. I may have blurred the steam a bit to make it less grainy and may have toned down the brightness of it (can steam be that bright?). But that is just a tiny nit pick. Bumping up.

So your plate looks awesome and I would love to dig into it. The cup in the background and whatever is in that bowl though draw away from the plate. The almost flourescent color detracts. The plate looks stunning and ready to eat though.
