Liquid Prisonersby jdavisComment: Very interesting. This is an excellent example of effective cropping. I'm not sure in what manner you did the soft lighting but I like it. It is simply a fun picture to study with the interesting shapes and colors. |

Colour Pencilsby AlexanderComment: Critique Club critique by Tim Jensen.
This is a pretty interesting photo and there are many things that I like about it. The first thing that jumped out at me was the nice vivid colors of the brushes plus the textured background. I also enjoy the simple but effective composition. Unfortunately your use of lighting has caused the brush ends to get lost among the background. This could be helped by aiming your light source at the brush ends to highlight that part and if you were to lower your light you could also create some nice shadows that would add even more interest. Always try to remember to experiment a lot with the positioning of your lights. One reason is that they can photograph much different than you see with your eyes alone.
This meets the challenge very well and you clearly executed it very well by keeping it sharp and clean. The border looks good although I think instead of the light blue to match the color in the background I would have chosen the green color that is on the brush. This links the border to the main subject and not the secondary element.
All in all this is a pretty solid photo. Now, about that title....

Cosmic Bowlingby AnachroniteComment: Ha. Very clever. The colors in the background distract from the colors and shapes in the foreground. A slightly different angle may have helped that but it is still very interesting. -T |

Natures Purple, Man's Yellowby K-RobComment: This is a really cool photo. I love the way each element is isolated but combine to create an interesting and dynamic arrangement. The slight tilt of the ground helps to create an unsettling feeling. Nice colors and crisp lines. I really hope people give this photo the credit it deserves. -T |

Metalic Auroraby adineComment: I see photos like this and I like abstracts more and more. Even though I think it is slightly dark I really like the colors and the composition. I'm not quite sure about the wide cropping though. -T |

Phloxby GordonComment: Great capture and composition. Maybe a little over exposed by a 1/2 stop or so. The values in the grasshopper could be a little richer. This is one of my favorites. -T |

The Cosmic Vase at Sunrise :)by ursulaComment: I like this quite a bit but I am wondering if adding some additional glass element would help as a reference for scale or added interest. I'm not sure though. I just feel that it needs something else compositionally. It still looks really cool with great colors. |
