A Dempster's Bakery Waffle - fresh, not frozen. And sad to say, that is really the color of them!! Sort of a nice appetite-inducing orange.

Since the challenge was "square" I thought I would try to get one square of the waffle in focus and the rest of the photo a bit out of focus. I don't really think maple syrup would help with meeting the challenge.

I like that you've pulled apart the puzzle a bit here. It's a great subject for this challenge. I like the white background. It almost looks like it could be floating mid-air, but the shadow at the bottom left gives away that it isn't.
