It's the straw which ruins the picture I think. As you said in your details, the feather has great texture and fantastic stripes. But the straw does considerably distract from it. It's the strongest in the bottom right corner because it is in the foreground and drags the eye away from the feather. Of course, like the other commenters said before me, you could diminish this effect with post-processing. But unless you are a photoshop god, it stays a weak composition.

UFO's on the road

It's not far from a truly great shot, but my feeling is that you wanted too many things here. The river shore is a great element of composition, but not at its best in this lighting. The car trails on the other hand are great in this light, but lose impact due to the distance.

I like a lot the colour tones, especially on the metallic parts. Of course the subject perfectly meets the challenge from the technical point of view, but the price is a lack of originality.

The subject is uninteresting in my eyes. The way you present it however is great: I like the grainy look and the focus on the seconds hand is perfect!

Spring Thaw

At first the reflection feels wrong because of the interuption in the horizontal frozen band. But then it makes the picture very interesting, by adding depth along with the reeds. The flat lighting is a pity and keeps this from being outstanding.
