rangeby undieyatchComment: It is indeed desolate, spiritually and with regard to features. |

Falloutby AghrisComment: The featureless horizon is the language of desolation in this photo. The silhouette enhances the feeling. |

Abandonned garage left as a dumpby yannComment: Graffiti, wire, signs of decay all add up to desolation and are a depressing sight whereever seen. For this photo, I think we need some sort of prop. It's ironic that we most likely need some interest in a photo of desolation! Seems contra to what the subject is. Perhaps an old broken child's toy lying in the dust. |

black shadowsby jdannelsComment: Not nearly as good. (I was the one who suggested cloning out the pole, BTW. So my comments can be taken with a large grain of salt!). Given the options, the one that won was the best (of course). |

Alone in the Fieldby JeniYComment: In Brooklyn's filthy backstreets, where canals are so polluted they catch on fire, your vision of desolation looks like paradise. |

Stories to tell...if only I could speakby glad2badadComment: Graffiti is a symbol of degeneration in our times. It reflects paucity of spirit and education. I think the location you chose well portrays desolation of the building - but also of the human spirit. But we need to work on it a bit. It needs a prop or something to bring it alive. Some would use a cute punky girl, some a down-and-out looking young lad. I might use something left behind as impications of past-gone humans - a broken broom... bottles... |

Fate in Silhouetteby LucidLotusComment: A great location. Nice sky and reflections. The b/w does imply more of a sorrowful feeling. Might have been a bit better closer up. Not sure without going there, of course. |

Abandonedby Jaded_HousewifeComment: This is a great location for photos. Barring savage guard dogs, I would have cut in for a closer series of photos from which to select on or more for processing. The foregorund needs a bit of cutting here. |

Edge of Desolationby jerryc12Comment: Barbed wire is a nice visual word. Dried dead plants also. Sand is nice too. I wonder if you might have been able to distill the sense of desolation down by removing some elements, reframing, or focusing down? I am not sure. I would just like to see some of the dilution taken out so the image was stronger. |
