Beats the heck out of the 24-70 2.8 in such conditions, providing you can get close enough. In this photo looks as if the focus point/plane is at the back of the shoulders / somewhere behind the eyes.

Looking through your challenge entries, I can see you have submitted a diverse set of subjects and are not afraid of trying something new.
