We went to the coast at the weekend (me, hazel, her sister and sisters bf), considering it was snowing when we left on Friday we didn't expect such great weather on Sunday, blue sky and sunshine all day, still 0 deg C but didn't matter at all ... we went walking over the Golden cap (highest point on the south coast of uk, ~ 200m) from Chideock to Charmouth, we were going to walk on to lyme regis along the beach but as there had been a landslide we couldn't so we went fossil hunting on the charmouth beach instead ... found quite a few!

I've never tried this technique before, shooting into the sun with fill flash for subjects and am pleased with the results. Didn't have speedlight so just on camera flash.

what a great idea, I'd never thought of that, I'll try that next time :)

That's really worked well. Their faces are nicely lit and detailed and the colour is still warm like that gorgeous sunset.

Really nice result -- I thought this was going to turn out to be a family greeting card.

Thanks for reminding me about this technique.

You balanced the light pretty good for this. It's nice that there is nothing behind you to make hard shadows from the flash. Glad you had a good trip to the beach.
