The Black Tuskby optionComment: Keep up the good work on the geology studies. I think it is worth it for the remote views alone. Just watch out for those head shrinking natives if, one day, you get sent to the remote regions of Papua New Guinea. ;-) I spent a while at university studying geology and working underground for tin mines in the SW of England a while back when they were open. I switched career but have some regrets. I was born in Australia and like Canada there's a lot of ore out there.... it's in my blood. And geology is a good profession. Hydrogeology is not as romantic as hard rock mining, but it is a very important item for the future and a good money earner, IMO. |

_DSC0051Cheescake1net.jpgby pawdrixComment: I'd be inclined to have some detail on the nearside of the raspberry. A smidgling of right to left light, as in a shaft of light perhaps. It would also benefit the cake... Perhaps a little less centered too. But all in all the food shots you have shared recently seem to show an interesting development in your photographic skills (if a high cholesterol diversion...) |

_waiting_by sevilduvarciComment: Those glass bricks - always a good idea but extremely difficult to use to achieve a beautiful effect - make this photo stand out. The vanishing point on the right is in an interesting place. The cynical glance of the "sitter" sets the tone. There's something about those colours that enhances the viewing experience - but how it is achieved eludes me somehow. I wonder if it is a slight shift of hues. |

streetlife4by sevilduvarciComment: One thing we miss in NYC is pedestrianism - roads that are dedicated to people walking. Along with pedestrianism comes cafes, smells of coffee, art, conversation and other pleasant reasons to dally. I like the view and colours in this photo. The converging lines are very appealing. |

Readerby edmengComment: The thumbnail attracted me - and, for once, I was not disappointed by the larger size image. As said below, the depth of field draws on into the quiescent drama, reader and book. The car wheels, seemingly approaching the recumbent person add some sort of implicit drama too. |

FT-test.jpgby LOWLANDSComment: Apart from the fact she is an exquisite model and you seem to have a good rapport, she has a classic look and the processing should bring that out. I can imagine gold, copper and silver as being colours that might apply in the processing of this image. Textures and a background to accentuate the Renaissance classicism of the image.
Otherwise, I like the white rendition above. I think the lighting direction works well too. Message edited by author 2007-01-20 10:07:33. |

Femkeby LOWLANDSComment: The vintage look of an old photo reclaimed from the cellar or attic, water stained and neglected is there - albeit a faux reproduction of that look. I like it, personally. Perhaps overlaying the texture of old paper, slightly cracked and flaking at the edges would be compatible. The model and your original photograph look very good indeed, underneath that layer of processing. Perhaps a simple silvertone-like rendition or quadtone would be equally lovely. |
