Carols By Candlelightby KitaComment: Great subject and lighting. Compositionally I'd try this shot with the candles closer to the right edge, maybe with the paper positioned more to the bottom left corner -- music featuring the score with the notes and music lines included often works well for this type of shot too. Focus is a little soft too, easily fixable. |

Dance of Lightsby ruckerjeComment: Interesting composition. I think the shot would be stronger if there were more lights in the foreground - the plant on the left is cool, but steals attention from the lights imho. Might want to crop tighter on the bottom too, the pile of snow doesn't really add to the shot. |

Bargin Basement Christmas Catalogby ShaneBlakeComment: Love the light effects. The focus could be stronger on the bulb and ipod though. Any reason for including the ipod? It seems out of place. The title might be revised to incorporate meaning for the song playing on the ipod (I would have thought a Christmas song would be more appropriate, but there could be a story here I'm missing). |

Nostalgiaby AzCKellyComment: Nice capture. I think it might do better with a white background, or something less vibrant than the red used. While the red is very good for the holiday aspect, it seems to blend in with the gloves and shoes a little much imho. |

Winter Rose Poinsettiaby banmornComment: The lighting, while doing a good job of hiding the background, doesn't do much for the flowers themselves. I'm not an expert on lighting so I don't really have any helpful suggestions, but I think it needs something to add emphasis, maybe having one cluster of flowers brighter or darker than the rest to create a strong focal point to the image. |

Santa's Choiceby RayEthierComment: Good subject, a little busy in the composition. Is this in cmyk? The colors seem a little odd. |

Fiber Optic Tree Topperby espy2Comment: Nice image. Might benefit from a little more contrast to better isolate the subject from the background, but the soft contrast approach is ok too. Focus seems a little off on the doll's face. |

Opal Dreamsby OdysseyF22Comment: The composition is ok, but the blown highlights on the jewel and the compression artifacts or oversharpening (jagged lines on the ribbon) hurt this. |

Merry Psycho X-masby buzzrockComment: Interesting abstract, might be improved by having a more solid image of the subject (a tree?) and then have the light swirls surrounding that, rather than have the whole image full of the swirls (imho). This could be done by using the long exposure as you have, but leaving the camera still on the subject for a longer period of time or maybe even throwing some light on it at the end of the exposure. |

Naughty or Nice! by SonifoComment: Great idea and exposure. Composition might be strengthened if the lights were more at a diagonal (the straight horizontal and vertical lines could be improved by less rigid composition imho). |
