Very Successfulby bhanubhanuComment: What a sweet face! What a sense of timing! What a great eye!
Sadly, however, good photography is more about technique than content. (I should know. Just check out my scores,...although I do take some comfort in the fact that somebody has to make the "basement" until "dues are paid.")
Having said all that & applying what I have learned so far,...the over-all soft focus of this photo detracts from its otherwise pleasant ambiance.
This is the balance sheet for photographing one's own child, especially an infant. You don't want to use flash & hurt the baby's eyes. You don't always have time to set-up a tripod. (Monopods are helpful, but only if you keep the camera attached.) Hand-held camera-shake in low light is inevitable. Yet, when my little girl is in a playful mood, I will grab the camera & go to shooting one after another as fast as the shutter will open, even past the point where my arms start to burn.
Personal Rule of Thumb: "You can't take too many digital photos!" (Or "You have to break a lot of eggs to make an omelette.") :) |

Frog Hunterby Pug-HComment: Depending on one's Point of View, this photo could go for either success or failure. Honestly, this incident seems to have "ruined the frog's day." ;) |

Success As A Motherby soccerdancemomComment: Wonderful demonstration of growth. However, you may lose some points overall due an apparently complete soft focus, although the focus on the daughter's eyes seems slightly better than the son's.
That's a plus though. An older & wiser photographer once told me in family portraits "Always set your focus on the Momma's eyes because she's the one who pays the bill!" |

47 Years of Marriageby aimeethetooComment: These days days any marriage in the double digits is a success. What a blessing to be in the presence of 47 years of marriage! (My parents missed 44 years by just a couple of months due to my Dad's transfer to a Celestial address.)
I love the shape of the hands which to me roughly resembles a heart (certainly an added blessing if unintentional.) :) |

SUCCESS!by DigitalSoulComment: Ah, the fortitude of Nature! Certainly proves the presence of an Intelligent Designer...at least to me.
I wish the green in the plant could be enhanced somehow. I think a Deep Green photo filter in PhotoShop would help & possibly even qualify for Basic Edit since it would be used over all the photo. Let me know if you try it. I would love to see the updated copy. :) |

Surviving in the coldby lastefComment: Great concept! However, this is a rather complex photo. Remember, photographer's first Rule of Thumb: Simply! You might try to crop to the lower RH corner keeping one swath of snow, and focus with F/2 or F/3.5 on the little bird. Great eye none-the-less. :)
And there you go...a little Welcome Free Advice (or not) from a friendly "arm-chair quarterback." |
