Very creative. The lighting is not too flattery for these beautiful women though. Bring them away from the background and shoot with a shallow DOF to blur the background or find a less busy backdrop.

The sign is almost off the image. It makes for an uninteresting view...

Over-saturated... With the old nature of it i.e. Route 66, the old pump the rusting bridge. it would look better desaturated.

Maybe if the road were in the picture it would be more interesting.

What crusade? It's a handrail! I really need this one explained. Beautiful image. Unfitting title.

**** Greeting from the Critique Club ****

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes

Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? Strong Composition, however I would recommend cropping the minivan from the left and between the antenna and mirror on the car on the right. I like the fireman in the foreground with his partner in the background. Nice placement.
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes. The lead fireman is in focus, but everything behind him is soft. Excellent.
- Good focus? Yes

Lighting
- Good use of light? Two issues. The reflected light for the fire engine headlights. The lead fireman is too dark to the front side. Use some fill flash our bring it up in post-processing. I like the reflections and shadows on the wet street.

Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- What is my reaction or feelings? Like someone commented below. I feel like I am there. It's a good shot.

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes

Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? The biggest problem with the composition is the huge patch of sky in the background that is washing out the colors and details. I'm assuming that you were shooting toward the sun. Looks like it's coming from the upper right. Good leading lines of the platform. I can't decide if a tighter crop would improve things.
- Good use of Depth of Field? No. I would use a narrower aperature to have more in focus, especially the sign overhead.

Lighting
- Good use of light? No
- Good use of shadows? It's hard to tell because the image is do dull. It's really hard to see the details because of this.

Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast Needs work to make the image brighter and "Pop".
- Sharpness. Needs to to make it sharper. Better focus, DOF, and Unsharp Mash would help.
- What is my reaction or feelings? I occurs to me like a tourist snapshot. The subject is good, but the technicals aren't quite there, yet.

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes

Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? Nice strong diagonal elements. Very simple composition. Not too much that can be said here. :)

Lighting
- Good use of light? Yes. Nice silhouette.

Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast Good color choice and contrast with the silhouette. Maybe make the red a few shades lighter.
- Sharpness. Okay. Here's the that I don't like. The over-sharpening. You like the halo. I would like it better without.
- What is my reaction or feelings? It grabs your attention. I took a copy of this and twiddle with it in PS and I prefer it with the edges soft. It's too harsh.

First impression: the image is dark.

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes

Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? There is a lot of dead space to the top and to the left due to the darkness of the image. Crop them out making the starburst more dominant in the image. I wondering if your point was to make the light secondary to the gold ball as it seems to being the point in focus.
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes. Good Bokeh.
- Good focus? No. The focus is on the gold ball and not on the "Burst of Color" although with this particular subject it's going to be difficult to get the lights (a light? which one to choose?) in focus.

Lighting
- Good use of light? As I mentioned earlier, the image is dark, so no. The star filter helps to distribute some light to other parts of the image, but most people are going to think this image too gimicky for it's use.

Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast. I love the colors, especially the out-of-focus yellows, blues, and greens.
- What is my reaction or feelings? If I use my hands to crop the image. It's amazing, but as submitted it doesn't excite me.

The first thing that is noticable is that the focus is sharp on the left and soft on the right.

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes

Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? Since this image is an abstract the composition is entirely subjective -- left to the viewer. I like it.
- Good use of Depth of Field? I would prefer to have the entire image in focus at about the same level as the 8th stem from the right. The ones to the right are too soft and the one to the left are too sharp. In such a short space this is visually uncomfortable.

Lighting
- Good use of light? Yes. Nice use of shadows. While not blowing out any highlights.

Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast The colors are a bit dull, but the contrast is excellent with the light browns against the black background.
- What is my reaction or feelings? Overall, I know that it's a fan and would like to see more of it. The fan has a shape, but this closeup is not the shape one would normally associate with it. It's an unique view (always a good thing), but it doesn't thrill me. I do like it though.
