| 01/25/2007 10:27:34 AM | Lunch at the recording studioby FedericoComment: A wonderful idea, but I don't really like the light here. The left side, especially the top left side is to bright compared with the right side. I'd prefer a complete one-sided lightning, or a uniform one. This way, it looks like a half-baked realization of a well thought idea. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/25/2007 10:22:37 AM | My Little Brotherby erl89endComment: This looks like a great invitation, the photo says: come on, enter to my world of joy and fun. Great idea!
Technically, there's still a lot to be done. The choice of angle is a very good one, but I want to see a bit of his face, so that I don't wander looking around and outside of the room and the hanging pictures. A side shot maybe? |
| 01/25/2007 10:15:12 AM | He Who Holds the Key Gains Entrance to My Heartby SquishyBComment: How am I to see your intension of this photo, expressed by the title, without reading the title? I just see some scattered old keys, which can be interesting subject by itself, if photographed properly. And the postprocessing leaves to be desired. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/25/2007 10:08:02 AM | Desperate Urgeby h2Comment: So simple, so beautiful. Just a remark on the light on the top half of the knob: I wish the color/lightning was the same everywhere. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/25/2007 10:05:32 AM | Entrance to Religionby M_WestComment: I don't understand what are the cigarette, the knife and the bottle supposed to mean. How do they help this photo?
It seems that you had some great light there, covering just half of the book. I guess giving more thoughts to it might have put a more dramatic effect to the book, that is by darkening the shadows more. Also, the shadow of the body cast on the wall doesn't help at all.
Still, a good idea that needs returning to. |

| 01/25/2007 09:57:30 AM | Do I dare enter?by KatieNicole83Comment: When I look at the photo, I see a handle, a metallic one, of the kind that you're supposed to press with the thumb and then push. This handle is put on a wooden door, without any fancy texture, design, or patterns. That is, one of the most common and boring doors out there. I don't know where this door leads, but I'd guess is one of those doors to some quite normal and usual, bordering with boring, rooms. It looks like a door of a family house.
Now, I pray tell me, how am I to relate this ordinary door with the excitement that the title asks? Is the composition such that evokes a dramatic moment? I don't think so, I even think that you didn't even bent your knees enough to push the handle on my face. Is the lightning such that the shadows cast evoke a sense of danger? No, I don't find them.
A photo is supposed to equal a thousand words. Your title made a thousand pictures on my mind, and none of them is the one you've taken.
So, to finally answer your question: yes, please enter, there's nothing spectacular on the other side. |
| 01/25/2007 09:47:05 AM | The Bankby GeneralEComment: I think a shot like this begs for symmetry, and this shot obviously lacks it. I also think that the light isn't good. I guess a shot early in the morning or late in the evening, when the light is diffused and with a warm cast, might improve the lightning, that is, the darkness of the gate and the whiteness of the pillars wouldn't be so "angry" at each other.
Seeing the reflection on the glass of the door, I think you could have made a good photo just by taking a shot of the gate, neglecting the pillars. What I'm trying to say is that there are so many elements here competing for attention: the gate, which is supposed to be the main subject of the photo, I guess, the pillars, the ceiling with the hanging lamp or whatever you call that thing. So, compositionally, I tend to think that this photo wasn't thought out at all. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/25/2007 09:39:29 AM | The Church Window - The Entrance To The Christian Soulby obsidianComment: Why do you have to give such bad title to a photo? How can a window be an entrance, furthermore, an entrance to the soul? I am concentrated so much on the title, because that's the major thing about this photo. This means that I can't find anything interesting on this photo to hold my attention more than a glance. |
