Two Tone Tonic by jmsetzlerComment: Nice shot, Mr. Setzler. You've got the eye for what wins here. Very simple and striking. This will win this week. I like the translucency of the lemon slice in relation to the glass. A few things I might have tried to eliminate include the blurr at the top of the black/white horizon, the blue cast on the meniscus at the left side and the lemon's colour refraction in the stem. These are very hard/impossible to do without the use of spot editing, however. Still, in a photo of contrasts I feel such things detract from the image. Otherwise, very nice. Good work. 9. |

North Hatley Fogby mariomelComment: I'll bet you're kicking yourself at the Blue challenge! Nice, though the tree in the background at the far right is a bit distracting. |

Christmas Season is Upon Us ( small town news)by SonifoComment: This is really nice...very good lighting, perfect exposure. Love the light on the snow. The only gripe is that it might have been nice to see more of the halo of light at the bottom of the frame, but even then it mightn't have worked. One of my top 5 this week. |

Overexposing Underexposureby jimmythefishComment: Thanks muckpond, and everyone else who had nice things to say. Nice to know someone really liked it. Was going for big contrast and blew out the hand somewhat. Decided to have fun with the title. The background I couldn't do anything about. Will 'shop it out for my own finished one. Thanks. PTLParsons...3 or 4 vs. 8 when considering a title...? not sure about that one. |

New York 2012 Olympic Gamesby tomzinhoComment: Very nice, excellent saturation of colours and good movement. Would have maybe worked a bit better with less motion blur on the buildings, but it adds motion and excitement as it is. Top 5 this week from me. |

Don't Drink and Drive by byetkoComment: This is one of the best this week. The cop is what makes this shot - very candid. In an ideal world the trees wouldn't have been there but it's fine as is. Excellent focus, definition and contrast. B&W works very well here. Might have gone 640x427 on the crop and knocked out the top of the photo myself, but the sky provides some contrast too. Well done. I think this'll get a ribbon. |

Sharing Is Caringby indigo997Comment: Couldn't you have at least found a cute kid to photograph? Sheesh...Good work, great contrast and great expression. Excellent child labour shot. Those little buggers are good for rounding up cash and really good for tight stitching. Might have been better with a bit of a tighter crop on the right and a bit more room on the left, but that's minor. Nice shot. |
