Pumpkinby GeneralEComment: Greeting from the Critique club. I have searched over your entry and would like to offer some suggestions for you. I like the composition and the subject that you have chosen here. The pollen and the colors are nice for the challenge. I like the fact that you went macro with it. However I would like to see a little more light on the subject the photo seems just a touch flat. Not sure if its the lack of contrast, or the lighting and you had to save the photo from being too dark. I also would like to see a touch more saturation and sharpness on the center. Overall I think you did very well. Good luck with future challenges.

Early morning haze ...by kari1Comment: Greetings from the critique Club. Usually well done photos like this that score well dont need alot of help with critiqueing, This isnt an exception. Its a well done shot with pretty good techniques. Obviously some PP would help this shot, however not having that option with this challenge. You did very well out of the camera. A couple of quick suggestions I might add would have been to change the composition slightly so that the foreground wasnt so big. The horizon of the lake/mountain is almost dead center. You might also try to use a graduated ND filter and longer shutter. Other then that I cant suggest any improvements. Very well done shot and placement. |

summer by ursulaComment: What a stunning image you have made here. I didnt get to vote on it, but I can assure you it would have given you another 10. The colors the DOF and the angle make this shot worthy of the ribbon. I dont think I would change a thing, of course that would mean I could make the shot look like you did(highly unlikely). Very well done and congrats on yet another Ribbon. |

inFlightby gocComment: Hello and greetings from the Critique club. I have went over your entry for a bit. I have some suggestions that may have helped. And also some praise for things done right. First what you did right, shooting through glass is tough, relflections and flatness are usually a big issue, you have over come this pretty well. I like the colors and you did a great job of keeping in time during the shutter actuation, the fish isnt tach sharp, but is really well focused and looks good. This is tough to do with fish, very unpredictable things they are. The composition is pretty good however as you noted in your notes. DPC folks dont like centering and that hurt you, however it adds to your shot because you are able to show more panning motion. Overall pretty good, perhaps could have moved him over to the right side a bit, and left motion blur on the left. Or used left or right focus points and not had to crop it. Anyway I think you did well in a tough challenge.
Good luck with future challenges. |

Desolate Placeby GeckogirlComment: Hello and greetings from the Critique Club. After viewing the photo I have a couple of suggestions. First off let me tell you this is a nice depiction of the challenge. I like the rules of 3rd here. You have very good exposure to keep the sky nicely colored and the foreground good as well. I might suggest that you would try to not take the photo during such a high sun time though. With not so harsh lighting you could have brought out more detail by using the shadows of sidelighting from the sun. Adding a little color in the sky besides blue(sunset type sky) would have been wonderful. Overall well done and scored very good in this challenge. Good luck with future challenges. |

Shatteredby snafflesComment: Hello from the Critique Club. After viewing the photo I have some suggestions for you. First its a great subject and the depiction of desolation is pretty well there. However the photo has some definate focus issues. And the moth seems to almost be blown out with very little detail and clarity. Centering and shooting straight down also seems to take away. Perhaps shooting at an angle and focusing on your subject and then recomposing your photos. Dont be afraid to compliment your photo with some editing, sharpening and adjusting colors, brightness, and contrast. Overall the photo scored about where I would have scored it. Good luck in future challenges. |

Miners Pastby ShutterPugComment: Hello from the critique club. What an honor it is to critique your shot here. I think the challenge description is pretty well met here. Although adding a single person in this photo walking away from the camera might very well have added a very good element to this photo. Thats the one thing I would add to this. I like the composition and the post processing is very pleasing. Not over done, but I dont think you could add or take anything away that would make it better. The colors and the contrast is very good. I'm surprised this didnt score over a 6, however with the addition that I noted above it very well may have. Nicely done overall. Good luck with future challenges. |

fading awayby arsenalComment: Hello from the Critique Club. After spending a few moments reviewing your photo I have to say that this image fits the challenge very well. Its very well focused and very clear. I'm not sure I like the green tint thats all over this photo or not. It seems to either have a love it or hate it effect on me. One part says it adds to it, the other just tells me the coloring is all wrong. Almost like a WB issue. Not sure if its intentional or not. I do like the composition and the clarity. Nicely done on that part. Only thing I'd change is the color cast issue that seems to be with the photo. Overall very well done. Good luck with future challenges. |

Early Morning Light on the River's Bank... at Midnightby eschelarComment: My opinion of this shot is that its very flat and dull. Needs contrast and has lost alot of detail in the shadows. Composition is pretty good although it doesnt follow all the rules of composition it works pretty well here. The photo seems almost underexposed for a 30 second entry. I would think that with the sun just coming up as stated that at 30 seconds this might have been alot sharper and with more detail. I'm confused though you say you shot it wide open on the 18-55 which would be 2.8 and on your details you show f11. I can assume by wide open then that you mean 18mm. Anyway thats my take on it and I think it scored about where my vote would have been had I voted. |
