I can see plenty of things out of focus but I can't see how it makes it a better photo - you still need to have a strong subject and observe basic rules about what makes a good photo. The bagpiper would be a much better photo if he was facing you - (or alternatively if you moved a bit to the left) - and found a much less distracting background.

very effective use of high contrast. Prehaps a bit too much though even for this challenge - I don't like the blown out area on the hand, it is right in the middle of the frame and the rest of the photo is so well exposed.

great use of high contrast - simple and beautiful photo. only nit pick is that it feels like we aren't square on to the wall, and my view is drifting to the left, might just be a optical ilusion though.

this is by far my favourite photo in this challenge, I'm ashamed that my poor oversaturated photo was somehow voted higher than this masterpiece. It says a lot about the tastes of the dpc voters that this didn't break the 9 barrier.
