There are fantastic details from the textures on the petals to the yellow center of this flower. Composition is excellent in that the main subject fills the frame and brings us in to appreciate the details. There is one thing that would greatly improve the shot and that is either different lighting and/or setting the camera's setting on vivid (if it has that function). The lighting (guessing it might have been taken in full shade) or mayhap the camera setting has the main colors of this flower a little on the dull and flat side. Looking at the thumbnail and at the larger picture as well it seems a little washed out when the colors should and could be more vivid. Making sure the lighting fully illuminates your subject not just to get good details but also (depending on subject and mood) make it visually pop is the one thing that would catapult this in the the high end of the scale.

The red petals of this desert flower really pops off the pale almost pastel hues of the backdrop. Great light and love the details seen on the downy soft petals. I daresay that the composition could be even stronger by zooming in closer where the stem is coming out of the bottom right corner to act as a leading line for the eye to follow up and appreciate even more the details of this flower.

Lovely burst of floral color in this shot. Love how the vibrant purples pop off the bright greens. I do think that there is one thing that could make the composition even stronger to further appreciate the delicate nature of this flower. Bring your audience closer, zoom in such that your main subject either fills the bottom 1/2 (giving less stem) and more of the allium's in the backdrop as bokeh or have a horizontal presentation where the main flower dominates the left half of the frame while the second half has the negative space of the bokeh background complete with the complementry field of greens and purple alliums.

Great light that really makes this larkspur shine. The purple hues really pop visually of the green and orange backdrop. The vertical crop not only brings us closer to appreciate the beauty of this flower, but it also complements the vertical orientation of the subject. Love all the details I can see right down to the 'veins' in the petals.

The B&W tones are well done. I can really see the lovely details of the texture of the petals of this flower. While the B&W is a strong composition I wonder what it looks like in color.

Absolutely it is the light that dances in the frame and illuminates all those fantastic details from the hairlike fuzz all along the stem to the delicate petals showing the veins in the petals. Great bokeh that allows the flower to shine in it's natural environment. Nicely done!

The light, the colors and the flower are the strong points of this shot. In general it is a good shot but it has potential to be stunner if a few things are done to strengthen the composition. First off bring your audience closer to the main focus - fill the frame so we can see all the lovely details of this lovely hued flower. It will also eliminate much of the distracting backdrop that the flower seems to be swimming in. Zooming in closer also has the advantage that if you keep sharp focus on the flower, and set the aperature to 5.6 (or lower) it will lower the Depth of Field so that the background has a nice blurred bokeh effect thereby allowing the flower to really pop visually. Also centering a straight and level subject within the composition generally doesn't hold the eye's attention for long - a little off center or at an angle where there are leading lines (i.e. the stem coming at a diagonal for an example) adds drama and some visual interest. Lastly, lower the shutter speed or the ISO just a little so (not to much for generally you have good light and contrasts) that you don't blow out some contrast/details - the yellow center has some blown highlights. One way you could look to see if the subject is all around well lit/balanced is to use the camera histogram function.

Fantastic colors and some nice details seen on this unique flower. Lighting is very good giving good contrasts and brightness to allow this flower to shine. I like how you have the flower almost fill the frame which allows your audience to appreciate the details of this unusual flower.

Absolutely stunning detail in the texture of the flower's petals! Great color and light that really allows the color and details to visually pop of the green bokeh backdrop.

This is clearly a top notch photo. Love the light, the composition, the colors, and all the fantastic and lovely details of the orchids in the planter resting on the table. This is a very well done floral still life that will most assuredly will be in the top 5. Excellent work!
