Day Four: CORNEREDby Art RoflmaoComment: Yes, this cat does make an excellent photo subject:-) I like that intense stare as he/she is crouched down under the car - the mood projected is that he/she is threatened by our presence and that we are invading this cat's space as it looks at us suspiciously. Lighting and detail are great in this shot. |

B&W - Day 4by mkComment: The sepia tone is a wonderful here for the warm tones project the feel of a warm early morning as one takes a walk through the park and spies this flower. The sepia tone along with the composition & lighting makes me think of the first blush of early morning light as it illuminates this flower. Lighting and tones are fabulous and the level of detail seen in the textured veins of the petals & the 'fur' on the stem is astounding. |

Hotel lobbyby MelethiaComment: The range in tones in this photo is stand out great! I also love the play of shapes in how you composed your shot. The sweep and curves of the walkway is what draws the eye in and invites us to wander the curved path to the doorway and discover what lies beyond. While the barrel looks out of place in that location it adds visual interest with it's curved shape and the textures. |

Brigadoon Harborby noranekoComment: Wonderful fog shot with the details of the fishing pier seemingly emerging from the fog. I love the composition that captures the mood and feel of the start of the early morning for a fisherman. I can feel the chill of the air when looking upon this photo. The seagulls flapping around the dock is a really nice bonus for they add to the seascape. The tones & contrast are perfect - I distinctly see all the lovely details of the boats, the dock, the reflections in the water, and the birds in flight. Great capture. |

Day 4 - Screw Looseby meneleComment: This is a good composition because it is simple, clean and minimalistic in presentation. Detail is very good with a lot of detail on the groves of the screw as well as the spotting 'texture' of the metal. Lighting is spot on. My only critique is that slight shadow off to the left of the head of the screw - another light or different lighting configuration would take care of that before clicking the shutter. Another way to get rid of it is through PP with use of the clone tool. |

Day Two: Comtemplativeby Art RoflmaoComment: I have to agree whole-heartedly with Colorcarnival's assessment. This portrait of you really does look like a photo for the book jacket of your next book especially against the backdrop of the shelved books in the background. I would NEVER have thought of utilizing the light from a laptop to illuminate the subject but you have done an excellent job here! The side lighting on the one side of your face subtly focuses attention to where you have posed your hand in a position that projects the contemplative mood of the subject. My only critique is that in small areas of your hand and the top part of the forehead it is a little overexposed and detail is lost - a little use of the burning tool to tone down the blown out areas should work nicely. |

Day 4by edmengComment: Love the texture in the top portion of the wooden wagon and the broken wooden spokes of the wheel. Great details in the textures and the object. Great job in the conversion to B&W for the tones and contrasts are wonderful. |

Day 3: Night Schoolby RebeccaComment: First, congrats on finishing the statistics class. For handheld, tis not too bad of a capture but the blur detracts from what could be a great study of sharp architextural lines of the building and the way the building is lit at night. I don't know what aperture or shutter speed you used but generally a high aperture (5.6 or higher) and slower shutter speed will capture a lot of lovely details and keep them in sharp focus without blowing out the details because of the nighttime lights. Bracketing (taking several shots with different settings) will give you an idea which setting combination works best. For nighttime shots or shots where you need/want lots of detail and are working with slower shutter speeds a tripod is essential. I know that carrying a tripod can be a pain but there are some lightweight & mini ones that you can throw in your bag and not worry about them (the Joby Gorillapod at 330 grams is one example) |

Pelican and Pier #3by robinssongComment: Love the detail seen on the flapping wings! This action shot has some very wonderful sharp details in the wing and body of the pelican. The tones and contrasts are great - the pelican really pops off the background of the sky. The only small nit is that the top portion of the downstroked wing in the foreground detail gets lost on the dark backdrop of the ocean - the tones are almost the same. Not sure how to make that stand out a tad more aside from mayhap using dodge very sparingly. Other than that this is a great capture of a pelican in mid-flight. |

Day-4by SandyPComment: Very nice shot Sandy. Love the tones and contrasts in this composition. It is probably me or mayhap I am just staring at the tranquil waters that that these canoers are treading, but I see a slight blueish cast to the photo - not a problem if it does exist, for it adds to the peaceful serenity that is captured here with the two boaters taking a break from the hustle and bustle symbolized by the cityline in the background. The photo has some nice sharp details too. Lovely reflections in the water and the sky is just wonderful! |
