Drawn to the alluring sound of the surf
Chugger squawked, "Strange birds invaded my turf!"
He uttered with displeasure,
Look et'em, flapping about in leisure.
Who needs sticks and line,
when you have a beak like mine.
I can catch two or more at a time
which is way more then your hook and twine.

Nice juxtaposition of nature and man competing for resources. The pelican looks on at the people flapping about catching fish. I feel like he is annoyed and also scoffing at the silly way we catch our prey. I picture him here as a grumpy old bird...but then he has a right to complain because humans have invaded his turf and now it is a competition.

Honey Bees bumble
Flutterby Butterfly tumble
Spring sings
Romance is in the wings

Love the bold orange hue that just pops off the soft greens. The capture of the two butterflies in a twirled flight is not an easy feat. Congrats on being able to get this shot. The colors, the flowers, the twirled flight all sing spring to me.

Carrol picked up her coffee cup to take a sip. She quickly discovered that it had left a ring stain on her report that she had finished working on the night before. "Damn," she thought, "I'll have to print it again." A quick glance out the window made her stop. She spied a beetle rolling along. "Huh, look at the little circus performer on his ball," she watched for a few moments," Well, at least he's on top of his world. Wish I was." Carrol looked at her watch then rushed to get a fresh report printed before she ran out of the house to join the morning rush hour circus.

The sheen on the beetle's back and the details are fabulous! The spikes on the legs look intimidating. As he is rolling along he, he looks like he in on top of the world...and indeed he is:-)

Out in the fields lay
Arachne's gossamer lace
touched by sun's grace.
Her silk, spun tracery
woven upon sprouting loom.
Wings seeking the next bloom
find within beauty, lies doom.

Those gossamer threads of the web are beautifully lit by the morning sun. Bathed in a pale amber/white hue, the image makes me think early morning as day dawns. The red house/barn in the background makes me recall some of early mornings, sights, smells, and sounds down on my friend's farm many, many years ago.

Scaling the cliff wall was slow but steady going. Cailet came over the rise and was greeted by a sight she was hoping to see. Making sure she was safe and secure to the wall, Cailet pulled out her lightweight camera to take pictures of the mother kittiwake and her chicks.

Wow, there are some fabulous details in this shot - given that they are cliff dwellers I don't want to even think of the heights you may have had to scale to just get this shot. You have some great interaction between the mother and her babies too.

The crew had been chumming the water for several hours. But no luck, the star of the show just wasn't to be found. Lynn had hoped the Great White could be filmed for her special on sharks.
"Hey Lynn!" shouted Tory her co-host from the other side of the deck, "maybe you should toss in a year's salary! I'm sure a bucketload of clams will get him to come out of his dressing room."
Lynn made a sour face at Tory's joke. It was a direct dig at how much more she made than him. She leaned over the railing to take one last look at the ocean's surface. At that moment, a crew member tossed some chum in and the great white broke the surface just a couple of feet from her face. Lynn sputtered out a profanity as she jumped and fell backwards on deck.

Holy crap! A sight like this would startle me out of my socks! This must have been a sight to experience, I'm sure. Great capture of the action - one I would personally not want to be physically close too.

The celestial river begins to flow at eventide
stars shimmer on the ebony surface
I look up at the skies vast expanse,
and submerge myself in its infinite wonder.

With all the light pollution in and around cities we truly forget just how astonishing and how humbling it is too look up at the night sky. It is only when we escape the hustle and bustle to the remote wilderness areas that we can marvel how vast and majestic the universe is and how we are but a small part of it. To those who have had this experience, it is something you never forget.

Damian cowered in the corner. The room. The room had no doors yet it went on and on and..."Stop", he muttered as he looked away from the picture on the wall. He didn't want to look there any more. The bed was bare and offered no comfort. It was much the same with the picture of the room and the bed on the wall and that picture within the picture within the picture. It just went on and on.

There is just something downright spooky and eerie about the place you captured in this picture. It is well done with B&W tones, interesting angle and stark interior that gives off vibes of abandonment and trapped at the same time. I am positive I see a repetition of a window and a bed almost the same to the one in the room within the picture hanging on the wall.

In the warehouse the giant's, cruel laughter mocks,
the countdown on the clock goes tick, tock.
Escher stairs teeter to Hitchcock
as Jack races to escape from this stalk.

The whole tilt to the world and the child running for the door gives off a sinister/suspense type feel. The tilt to the stairs reminds me of the artist, M.C Escher's impossible constructs that border on the fantastic and sometimes whimsical. Your stark black and white tones, the child running, and the interesting 'camera angle' also projects the mood and feel of suspense akin to Hitchcock films. I instantly got the feel of a childhood story/game getting deadly/sinister - for some reason Jack in the Beanstalk came to mind...perhaps because in the end it becomes a race to freedom as the giant 'stalks' Jack.

Do you recall the warm, summer days
in the fields where we would run and play?
We would gather sprigs of flowers
in the late, afternoon hours.
Those days have long since past,
but the memories will always last.

This has the look and feel of a warm memory - of days in the sun and having fun.
