Fishing at Duskby TiNComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Love the bold and vibrant orange and gold hues in this photo. The figure of the man fishing on the boat is an added bonus that adds to the visual appeal. Love the quiet mood of fishing at sunset that this composition projects. Very calming. |

Love the soft bokeh in the backdrop that gives this floral shot a soft dreamy feel. Tones are good and there is a lot of nice detail in the carnation. |

In company of silence by jagarComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Love the mood here. A man behind an iron bound window - perfectly willing to look out at the world but not willing to let anyone in. He remains behind his iron 'shelter' in comfort of his solitude. Great textures on the peeling paint and shapes of the iron scrollwork - the age seen here adds to the mood by playing into the idea that over time he has grown comfortable with being alone. |

Christmas Dayby vladoComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
I love the muted colors in this photo for it gives it a feel of age - like it is a pleasant memory being remembered. An age of carefree and joyous times with family gathering in the backyard for just some simple fun. I love how you captured the girl running across the screen. She is not in sharp focus but I feel that is fine because it captures a sense of motion to an otherwise static scene. Great capture of a moment in time. |

Elsewhereby CuttoothComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
I do wonder if he is sitting alone or are we the other active party in this composition who is sitting with him at the table. He is distracted from the task of eating and if we are indeed the other person at the table we have finished our portion of the dinner while our friend still has yet to eat his half. His mind is indeed elsewhere with the faraway look in his eyes. He is distracted and is/has not finished his food. This makes me wonder what has so captured his attention or imagination that he has lost focus. Nicely captured. |

B&W presentation was a wise choice to call attention the action of what is going on in the scene. I feel color would distract from the action of the silently communicating cats. Even though I cannot see the face of the cat behind the window, I can see that they both are making eye contact from the look of the cat on the outside. One cat looks out upon the cat that is outside luxuriating in being free and outside. The cat behind the window seems to be pining away or maybe jealous of the cat on the outside; he desires to be out and about. |

Feeding Swan, Winter Pondby Bear_MusicComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Your B&W tones are just fabulous! Love the texture and the detail I see in this photo. Nice action shot of the swan dipping into the water to gather food - the water rings are a great detail. The beads of water on the swan's head and neck is also a great touch. |

The Kissby GilesComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
B&W definately gives this a classic ol' time feel of the movies of the 40's. While some may be critical that the face and lips are not in focus, I think you hit the nail on the head with what you wanted to present to your audience. The audience is not a passive member looking upon this photo. Instead you have made them an active participate. The motion blur of the lady coming close is like she is leaning in for the kiss. Nicely done. |

Just a Dropby bcrantsComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Your B&W tones are very dramatic and excellent here. Love the 'texture' I can see on the hand. Lighting and details are fantastic. And of course what makes this visually interesting that holds the eye's attention is that one drop/the splash cupped in the hand. Fabulous stop action work! |

Dorthy's Escapeby neophyteComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Dorthy is all grown up and no longer needs to click her ruby slippers to escape Oz. I imagine she puts the floors the gas and roars down that yellow brick road:-) That bold deep red of the shoe just leaps off of the page. This is an above average shot but I have one suggestion that could help improve the visual appeal even more. I feel the vertical crop 'stuts' the image; it feels confined. A horizontal crop would give it a 'widescreen' feel to get a sense of the direction one would travel on the wide open spaces of the road. It would also follow the lines and orientation of the bike as well. |
