Sweet Endingsby rockyrajanComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
The dessert is sweet but there are quite a few elements the are overwhelming the image of the treat. The treat itself has warm light and dark brown tones that are just overpowered by the gold dish and the orange backdrop. The BG should offer contrast so that the dessert can visually pop off the page. The presentation here has the dessert getting lost in color tones that do not give any good contrast to allow this dessert to shine. I am not sure if it is the lighting or processing or both but there are some harsh highlights on the ribbon and some odd hard yellow 'outline' along the edges of the curled and fan-like decorative topping on the top of the treat. If lighting then shooting with different lighting or an adjustment of White Balance on the camera can help. |

Simply Luscious (some assembly required)by Bear_MusicComment: Voted much earlier coming back to comment.
Cantaloupe is definately sweet and tasty. The shot holds potential to be very appealing to the eye if a few things were done differently. First you have great detail in the melon and the dark backdrop really allows the color to pop off the page. The drawback to the very detailed flesh of the cantaloupe is that the high contrast to bring out those details 'over-ccoks' the melon making it look dark and burned. I think if you pull back a bit on the detail, the melon would look more bright and appear fresh and juicy. My other recommendation (imho) in improving the visual appeal is to change up the angle to create a composition that in dynamic rather than static. What I mean by that is the the overhead looking down does add any 'hook' for the eye to linger longer and study the image. A suggestion is cutting the melon into a few easier to eat slices that are posed in an interesting arrangement which would give the eye more to look at rather than one large chunk. |

Caramello by BudyaComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now.
Love the presentation of the dessert resting on the curved stem of the glass...I do think the visual appeal would be more stronger if you cropped more of the bottom portion so that it is just about 1/2 under the wavy stem. The dessert is very well lit and the details are tasty to look at. I am not so sure the yellow cream backdrop really allows the Caramello to truly shine. The BG does have a warm tone to it whereas a white backdrop would just make it feel cold. I think a deeper rich color such as a dark brown would have made the white portion of the cake really pop out while complementing the medium brown of the crust and topping. |

Doughnut Girl by gyabanComment: This is the second visual that has stayed with me for quite some time. Regardless of the imperfections you mentioned the strength of the playfulness and the strong study of shapes overcomes all that. I love the many circles from the spinning dress to the hat to the plates, coffee cup and doughnut. The mood is one of mirth - it is playful and inviting. The hostess does a joyful dance that I cannot help but join her invitation to partake in coffee and a doughnut. |

April by gyabanComment: Yes, it has taken this long for me to come back to comment on this piece. It resonated strongly with me before while in the voting stage and the imagery of this great and majestic tree has stayed with me than I can no longer resist the call to come back and tell you how beautiful it is and finally fav it (one of two of your works. And yes, I am very picky with what I fav too if you couldn't tell:-) ) I will admit I did have a slight envy that you were able to stand before this tree and experience it's majestic beauty (but that has passed). The beauty of this place and the tree just wraps around you to envelop one with the quiet calm of forest serenity and mysticism - this is a place either physically or just visually where one can come to seek tranquillity when life gets hectic. |

Spider Webby Mark-AComment: Hello neighbor (looks up above). Congrats on the top 10! I am a little surprised at placement for I had thought this would be in the top 5. Thanks for posting the steps process; it is truly amazing what you can do in PP with the right pieces (pictures) to create the puzzle. In the voting stage, I thought you might have used a toy of Spiderman... very impressive that you had a live model in a morph suit (those things are creepy). Great work. The Iceman Comethby adigitalromanceComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Cool! Er, I mean that is a cool idea to use Negative Image and blue tone it to present the imagery of freezing powers (at least that is how I think you accomplished some of the effect in this piece). The Power Stance on Iceman is great because he really does look like he is sliding on the ice to travel to his destination to fight crime. The cone of ice coming out of his hand looks a little to solid a 'block'. I wonder how it would have looked if you used an aerosol can (Lysol, hair spray, PAM cooking spray) to get a spray effect and just edit out the can showing in the hand? The other small critique I have is that the wall of ice as the backdrop makes the Iceman look like he is in a very remote location of the Artic and not anywhere close to a city/town. I think an urban backdrop would have complemented the crime fighter imagery better...the trick would have been to effectively combine the two without it clashing. |

Make my dayby DarkpixelComment: Voted earlier, coming back to comment.
I love the touch of the texture overlay that makes it look like veins are buckling and rippleing under the strain of transformation. My critique....it sounds odd but I think the Hulk needs to be a little more green. There is just a touch too much yellow in the green hue that it looks odd. Pose and stance are very good. One other little critique is that it looks to me that you missed coloring the ears green - they are the normal human flesh tones which contrasts oddly with the rest of the green skin. |

Spidey looks like he is ready to jump off the big screen. Great job with integrating Spiderman into the city scene backdrop. Very well done. My only critique, and it is a small one, is that I wish there was web starting to shoot out of his aiming hand in the bottom right. It would have just completed the scene and the action of swinging to the next location. |
